oh yeah thats what i mean L R Select A,  i have no idea why this thing doesnt work, it suppose to ask for confirmation right? :? nothing happen for me, and the saved state usually deleted since select equal to delete lol.    gah this is kind of frustrating.

here is what i do step by step :

Play the game > L + R > save state > New > L + R + Select + A (pushed at the same time)

for the nesds, it didnt work for me either, i put the nesd file in the dir root

Quote from: "onekelly"Ok for nesds what files to you have to copy over to your root dir on the SD card?
nesDS.nds is the only file needed, but it doesn't need to be in the root dir.

onekelly

just click the L R and hold then press the select and hold and then a and hold it should ask you if you want to save or not.

Thanks musulsa for the info. do you have to run the roms thru the exe file or not etc..

ok i had white screens for aproximately 40 sect then finally get the nesds screen and says no roms found. i have the roms (.nes files and nothing done to them) in a folder with nesds. what am i doing wrong?

onekelly

I ran the roms thru the exe file and added the .nds and then it worked after the 40 seconds of white screens, but cannot save yet, well it says save but no go.

thank you so much onekelly wouldnt find it out without you,  i thought i had to push them all at the same time.   , i'm happy now.

How about GBA rom?, i notice they have 3 files after i patch it using the sc software. the .gba .sic. and .sav.   they work wonderfully, i was just wondering how to save them.  From what i read in the sc website, the method is the same.  I'll give it a try
thanks

UPDATE: I did manage learn to save files for the .gba.  at first i was confused since L+R do nothing in most of the gba game. so here's what i did : find a normal save point in the game. after you save do a quick power cycle > go to lister and find the save file, then press a.  :D

about the nesds, i've tried to run the rom through the exe and doesnt work either. i wonder if nesds is not compatible with sc lite :?

DO NOT run the nes roms through the exe. just rename the nesds.bin so that it is named nesds.nds, then copy it onto the SC. It will give you a file listing when you start up the app on the DS and you just scroll/search till you get to your (clean) nes files. I have nesds in its own folder, and all my nes files in a subfolder below it. Works great. After starting up a game, tap the bottom screen and you get options, etc. I like to swap the button layout so its more NES_like and change the display type to alpha-lerp for all but a few games. Under the "File" section there is savestate, loadstate, load rom (resets to nesds file listing), etc.

when you make a savestate, nesds creates an .nss file for that game, directly saved to the SD/CF. It's a beautiful thing.

EVERYTHING that works on pocketnes works just as well and saves fine in the NESDS WIP. The only trouble I've had is corrupt saves in Super Mario Bros 2 (J), i.e. the japanese "real" SMB2. This has to be played using a pirated, patched rom and I don't count this against nesds. Also, I've noticed that the sound can be distorted if you jump from DS gaming into nesds, so I try to remember to reboot the DS before getting into an NES session.

I suggest sc-lite owners try putting the nesds.nds (renamed nesds.bin) through the 'moonshell patcher' if they get save trouble..... http://scdev.org/files/patch_moomshell_for_sc.rar

I just followed hanfuda instructions, and it really is easy as pie to use
Yes I'm mad

Jesster

Moonshell patcher does NOT work for nesDS.nds.

Just renaming the file works but will not find the roms. See my post above for my findings

yes, if you "build a rom" as instructed in the readme, and as intended for actual flashcarts I guess, you'll get that "No ROMs found" error (or whatever it says - been a while since I figured it out.)

When you unzip the NESDS-WIP archive, completely ignore nesds.exe, and just take nesds.bin out of there and forget the rest even exists. Rename nesds.bin to nesds.nds, and copy it to the supercard. (Actually, I put it in a folder named NES and then copy that folder to the SC) If you don't already have a bunch of clean NES roms on your Supercard, then put a bunch on there.

put this together with the redundant instructions I wrote earlier in the thread, and anyone should be able to get it to work.

Quote from: "onekelly"I get two white screens with my sclite/sandisk ultra II when I run nesds.ds

I highly recommend simply downloading nesDS via DSOrganize's homebrew database. Did that today and the emulator runs just great! I love it!

If that's the official version and not the WIP version done by emukidid, it wont save. I guess its more authentic that way, though.

I tested it and it save states, if that is what you mean. I am not sure of actual sram saves, as I only tested SMB1, 2 and Kid Icarus...but like I said...save states did indeed work on the miniSD.
