When I boot in passme mode with an NDS game in the slot I can select and play a backed up rom on my supercard.  Without a game in the slot I just get two white screens.  My SuperCard patched roms are setup to save to the SC, but the fact that the games wont run unless there is an NDS card in the slot worries me - the games I run from the SC wont write over my saves on the DS cart in the slot, right?

The only game I've ever had that has overwritten my save was Feel The Magic 2, even though I told it to save to the SD card.

If you tell the game to save to SD though, the vast majority will save to SD without any problems.

Next version will support booting without having a DS card in, in the mean time if you are REALLY worried, boot with flashme (hold ABXY) and while you are in the super card menu you can take out the game from the DS slot. You won't damage anything if you do this in the super card menu. Do NOT try to take out the DS card once you've started playing a game however as that will cause a lockup.

you need a nds cart inserted (better not mario 64 since most of backups dont' work with it), but metroid demo just works fine.
If you selected 'save on sc card' it will not write over your original saves on the nds card;
it will overwrite saves on nds card only if you selected it before with sc patching software with 'save on nds card'.
Keep in mind that some games can save only on nds card.... :roll:

before I use a ds card I back it up using the errom tool. this way I can alwas recover my save.
