Yeah had my dslite for 14 days and the <R> button started to become flaky, only working sometimes. Never dropped it or was rough handled in any way. Always kept it in a case when it was not in use. Luckily I bought it at target for this type (among others) of problem and was able to return with no issues. This is why I am using a superkey until it proves itself.

Funny, I returned a DS Lite for this EXACT problem. The R button only worked sometimes. I really noticed it when using Flubba's emulators (you need to press R+L to get the options) and especially when using GBA Frotz since it is used bigtime to bring up the keyboard controls. The Lite is still littered with problems unfortunately. Glad TRU didn't give me any probs in exchanging it for a classic phat. Now all is good...except the screen brightness. But, for a durable unit in which everything works as it should (not to mention my miniSD M3's and SC's sit flush!), I'll more than deal with it. I may just pick up a third phatty...since I have this feeling you will not be seeing them on shelves this time next year.

And as for department store purchasing, I am ALL for it. You buy from Target or TRU, you have THREE months to exchange the unit...no questions asked. That really gives you the time to find issues that arise.
