One SC Lite works with homebrew, one does not...

Hey everybody... I have a strange situation:

My brother and I both have SC Lites with 1GB Sandisk Micro SD cards... One of them works rather well with homebrew... for example nesDS works great (sans saving)... But his, on the other hand, has issues with most homebrew.  DSOrganize works, as well as the wifi_lib_test but mostly everything else does not.
We've tried using the same file on his SD card as mine (for example nesDS.nds).
We've tried using my SD card with his SC.
We've tried formatting his SD card, reapplying the SC firmware, etc.
We've tried his SC in my DS.
We get whitescreens every time.

The weird thing is, commercial roms seem to patch, run, and save with no problems.

Could a Supercard be broken just for homebrew?  or does anyone have any other suggestions??

aren't you supposed to patch all homebrew with the moonshell patcher?  If that doesn't work than i have no clue

Well the point is, the homebrew works on one and not the other so that can't be it.

since all the hardware is the same, just patch both again. it tells u what firmware u got on the confirm screen.

That is very strange.  Are the DS Lites flashed?

One is flashed one isnt.  It does not matter which DS the screwy one is used in, it never works as well as the other one.
