Hi All, ive just bought 2 new DS`s for my 2 lads for Xmas, i`m a bit confused about playing roms and the kit needed to play them. Note ive never owned a nintendo handheld before and therefore have never patched or altered them in any way.

ive got the following -
silver ds with rayman game
blue ds with labrador puppie game
A load of DS Roms

Am i right in saying i need a supercard and a sd card to load the roms?
Do i need to purchase the superpass? (Totally confused about this)
ive gotta get a card reader to upload the roms to.
Any Help is much Appreciated. Thankyou

Yes, you need both! If you're in England, best place I've found to get them is www.cheapmod.net.

Hello there.
Okay, here is what you need.
You'll need to grab yourself two Supercards and two SD or CF (depending on the Supercard. I recommend the Supercard SD as it sticks out less, but I own a Supercard CF and haven't experienced any problems with it). You'll also need a SuperPass (or some other form of a PassMe). What that does is it allows you run DS code from your GBA slot (ie. DS Roms). However, to save money, you can consider buying one Supercard and using it to "Flash" your two DS's and then you won't need to have it sticking out of the DS at all times while your kids are enjoying the DS. This basically entails downloading a program onto your CF/SD card, and running it while you short a circuit in your DS (located under your battery lid). The procedure takes about 5 minutes to perform, but if you're not careful and turn the power off or lose it in some way (it's a good idea to have the DS plugged in), your DS will be turned into a brick (ie. unuseable). However, many, including myself have performed this so there is no problem.
So, bottom line:
If you want to flash your DS, buy:
-2 Supercards
-2 CF/SD cards (512MB is good number as many games range from 16MB to 64MB and may be bigger in size in the future)
-1 SuperPass
If you don't want to flash your DS, buy:
-Same as above but with 2 SuperPasses

To get the cheapest price, visit http://www.iOffer.com and find yourself 2 Supercards.

Now, something else to take into consideration is that newer DS models (I think your blue one will encounter this problem) cannot be flashed using the old FlashMe versions because their firmware is newer. However, not to worry, because there is a PassMe 2 out which is like a SuperPass but for newer models. The SuperPass only supports old models (most silver ones and coloured ones bought before August). Since mine was an old DS, I didn't run into this. I'm sure some fellow users can help you in locating a PassMe that works. Otherwise, that's about all you need to know. Hope it helps and good luck.  :D
Dear Lisa, as I write this, I am very sad. Our president has been overthrown and --in different agressive masculine voice-- REPLACED by the benevolent General Krull. All hail Krull and his glorious new regime. Sincerely, Little Girl."

Hi Both, Many Thanks for the replies

ive checked the serial numbers on both DS and they are not compatible with the superpasses if i got that right. I Think i can still go out and get the current supercards and try and get a superpass 2 or passme 2 or something. If somebody could help me out with the steps for an owner of the newer DS`s in regards to the superpass not being compatible this would be much appreciated.

If i get a Passme2, do i still need a supercard and if i do is the supercard compatible with passme2??

Critical_Impact

Supercard is compatible with any firmware version, Passme2 is needed to boot Nintendo DS roms and homebrew. You can still play GBA games without a passme2 but you need it to run nds games from the supercard
