V.51 is out!

Hello all!
Let me explain what this program is.
This program allows many people without coding experiance to create their own DS RPG games, similar to RPG Maker 2003 for PC, but this is for DS!

Early early versions have come out in the past, but only allowed for you to make maps and play on them as a little square guy. But, I have been following development of VGMDS and VGRDS (Virtual Game Maker DS) and it has progressed RAPIDLY since the last release!

You are now able to import your own graphics, create events, set hero start position, have music play in the background, and much much more!

I am the main tester of VGMDS, and a public release has just happened.
It is a very very important release, a breakthrough you might say.

Sucks about the CF based thing for me. Although, this whole time I thought this was a PC program that when done, compiled the game as a DS game, I didn't realize you MAKE the game on the DS as well, making it more like RPG Maker for the Playstation.

as far as I know, VGRDS can be used on SD-media, just not VGMDS

VGRDS- game player
VGMDS- game maker

so, I guess you can play finished games! :D

if you plan on using this as often as I do (which I love it so far!!)
you may want to join the forum to give suggestions, ask questions, and follow the development!

I'm currently working on an RPG, and its turning out pretty nicely.
There will be a lot more event functions in the near future, but this is a great breakthrough about whats allowed in this version.

I downloaded this program a few days ago but didn't go long without giving up on it. It'd be nice to see what this thing can do in a demo, I can't believe it didn't come with one.

I don't think VGRDS works on SD media.  It loads fine but it can't navigate the card.  It just says 'empty'.

Maybe a PC interface (where you make your game) would be nice.
And that it could produce a .nds for the system.

that would be a great idea scor, but probably very difficult. i hope he gets this working for us SD users cuz i really want to try it out.

I made one that was to be released with V.50, but he made a sudden change and it became incompatible at the moment (but it works now) so thats why it wasn't released with V.50

He has to fix an important bug (the one that starts an event when pressed 'A') and then I will release it

what is the fun of a demo if you cant talk to a person, or go through doors lol?

to those who said it probably won't work on SD media, I can counter that.
When you first start VGRDS, it says to 'load recent' or 'load existing'

you can't 'load existing', but there is a file called "VGMDS.HST" that you but on your root of the CF/SD card, and then edit it to auto-load my demo, which is easy. (I'll include the VGMDS.hst for you guys)

once that is on, then load VGRDS and press "X" to load recent (from vgmds.hst)

In short, I believe it is possible!

To those who wan't a PC application, he is working a special VGMDS that is compatible for DeSmuME, so you can make it on PC and play on DS

but it will never compile to a .nds, sorry

To use an existing project with the new version of VGXDS,
Please copy game.vgm from "newgame" and paste it over the existing game.vgm that is in your project folder

Will VGMDS ever be compatible with SD cards?  Also, about running the your game using that VGMDS.hst file, i'm not sure if it will work or not since neither VGMDS or VGRDS can actually see anything in my sd card.  No folders or anything, just the word 'empty'.

you will not need to go to the file explorer with vgmds.hst in the root directory.
You will just press "X" to 'load recent project' and it will load off of the vgmds.hst automatically

I do not guarentee it will work with SD, but it might! just follow the directions in readme!

it will definatley work with CF media though

It represents what this can do, and most importantly, I have no idea how to code! You do not need to know how to code in order to use this! AWESOME!
