Problems getting older games working between 2 DSs

Here's my specs:

1x Nintendo DS Phat, Flashed, with Supercard CF
1x Nintendo DS Lite, Flashed, with Supercard MicroSD

Many older wireless games just don't seem to work between these two.  Examples are Nanostray, Advance Wars DS.  Download-play between them works fine, and newer games like Tetris, NSMB, and Mario Kart are fine.

Does anyone know what could be causing this?

are you using the same version to patch both of them and the same firmware on the cards? (except the respective ones... like the newest firmware for the cf and the newest patcher for that, etc)
otherwise nfi, same flashme as well?
just thinking of ideas.

Latest patcher for both, yeah.  They're both using v7 of flashme, I think.  Actually it's possible the Phat is just using v5.  Could that cause problems?

ShinaKitsune

not sure, because i know that the newest flashme is based off a different version of the firmware... but i have no idea why that would effect that kind of thing.

I think I read that if you have v5 there's no reason to upgrade to v7 unless you have a Lite or a Phat with the brightness chip.

This might be stating the obvious Altor, just trying to be helpful.  You can't have both the CF and the SD patcher software installed at the same time.  You need to install the CF patcher software and patch your ROMs for SCCF, then you need to install the SD patcher software and patch your SC microSD ROMs.  When you run the patcher software make sure the correct version is running.

I have no problems playing games between SCCF and SCSD and SC miniSD.

Altor

I did all the CF conversions before I got the MicroSD.

That is odd. Maybe you should try to redo them with the latest CF firmware/patcher versions?

Just flashed the Phat from v6 to v7 and reconverted both roms.  I'm not sure which one did it, but now Advance Wars DS works great.  However Nanostray is still screwed up.

Nanostray, if I understand correctly, wasn't a very good success and was cancelled quickly...  can't find it in stores anywhere here.  Anyway, I wonder if part of the problem was buggy multiplayer?

I'm really at a loss.  I don't know if Nanostray even has good multiplayer, it might suck anyway, but this is bugging me now.

Has anyone here successfully played Nanostray multiplayer?

http://scdev.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5758 <<< Well, I'll be damned...  Apparently nanostray is exclusively download-play.  I'll try this and see what happens.  How strange!

ShinaKitsune

yeah, looks download play only tested between a flashmev6 dsphat(sc minisd) and flashmev7 dslite hopefully it will work for ya~
