SC CF - Upgrade Problem - Data Verify Error

Hi!

I'm having some troubles upgrading the firmware to 1.63 on my SuperCard CF.  It asks me if I want to upgrade, and I click Start, and get a message: "Data Verify Error! - Please turn of GBA".

My firmware still lists version 1.62.

I have tried it on my DS and my GBA, I've tried two different CF cards, and I've reformatted both CF cards.  I've tried it with and without a DS game in the top slot.

I'm at my wits end, here.  I've got flashme running as the bios on my DS, but I think it was Flashme 4 or 5, I never bothered to upgrade to a newer version.  Am I missing something?  Anyone have any ideas?

Is there any chance I ended up with a fake Supercard?  I thought most of the fakes were of the SD variety...

Thanks,
 Chris

Hi All,

I still haven't seen any replies for my previous post?  Has anyone seen this 'Data Verify Error' with the Supercard CF and firmware 1.63?

Thanks,
 Chris

Hi. Obviously make sure you are downloading the correct version of the firmware designed for use with SCCF. Boot your Supercard in GBA mode holding L+R to run diagnostics. Make sure you don't have a bent pin inside your SCCF slot.

Verify you don't have a fake Supercard . . .

Thanks for your reply.  I've downloaded the CF version of the firmware twice from here and from the official site.  I'm sure it's the right one.

I tried the diagnostic mode a few days ago, and tried it again today.  Everything comes back okay.  I get the "Test file not found" message, but from what I've read, everyone gets that. :)

I checked the Supercard pins, and some appear shorter than others, but nothing's bent.  Both of my CF cards feel like a nice, clean fit, and everything I've ever run from the SC runs fine.

That post only points to fake SD supercards, I can't find any info anywhere about fake CF supercards.

Oh well, unless anyone has any other ideas, I guess I'll just wait for the next firmware upgrade.  Maybe 1.7 will work for me...

Okay, I jumped over to the download archives page, and inspiration struck.  I downloaded the 1.62 firmware, and even though mine already said 1.62, I reinstalled it.

After I did that, 1.63 worked just fine.

Go figure.

Thanks for your thoughts bitblt.
