Yeah, I had the non touch GP2X and tried the GP32... Horrid controls.  And yeah the Wiz looks like a total joke.  I think having the d-pad and dual analogs is a huge bonus on this one.  And having the full keyboard will help with additional required buttons. 

Here's the supposed final case design (will be in black, but rendered in white to show more details of curves, etc)

I think the clamshell design is the best way to go, dual screens or not.  It protects the screen and makes the whole device just a lot more convenient.

I'm reserving judgment until some reviews of the d-pad come out, or until I can try it for myself.

The big problem with all of the d-pads on the market is Nintendo owns all of the patents on good d-pad design, so no one can use those designs without getting sued.  That's why Sony uses the split d-pad design, and Microsoft's is just pitiful...

In my opinion, that split Dpad is just as bad as the one on the 360. If this thing ever gets released then I will seriously consider getting one lol.
