Why CF _AND_ SD?

I bought an SD version because I have a PDA that uses an SD card, and thus already had several SD cards handy that I could use. As at the time supercard was the only SD device, it made most sense for me to buy an SD version... in fact, it made so much sense, I probably wouldn't have even BOUGHT a CF version because I'd have to have invest additional funds into a seperate CF card.

There is the reasoning... Some people have biases and preferences to a specific type of memory card because of similar devices they already own or some misguided belief there is a serious benefit for one versus the other.

well said, koji.

That was exactly my situation too.  And I'm sure this same situation was echoed in many supercard users, both CF and SD...

(by the way this is a really strange thread. haha..)

I bought an SD version because I don't like how the CF card sticks out of the CF version. I'd probably break it off or rip it out while I'm playing or something else stupid like that. (Also, the way I hold the DS is with my left pinky under the cart in the GBA slot... it was tough to adapt to the extra 1cm sticking out, but I don't think I could comfortably / safely rest the CF card on my finger while playing.)
Manually signing your posts is dumb.

Firmware versioning: Get a Passcard 3, a SuperKey, or a slot-1 flashkit. Then it doesn't matter which firmware you have.

If you are using only your gameboy micro, then go ahead and buy a flash2advance cart with 512Mbit for $100 and be happy.

It has better compatibility for gba after all. The storage however is awful small and you can be happy to have 3 games at once on it, instead of 100 with a supercard and a nice sd/cf card in it.

If you are going to use the SC for the DS too, then don't ever think of getting a Flash Cart, it's just stupid. With 1GBIT roms allready arround and working FINE with the SuperCard, there can be major storage issuse. I currently have 15 DS games on my 512MByte SD Card. with a 1Gbit flash cart(for about $200!) it would be 1-2 games, nothing more, and no space for aditional gba games or else left.

Like the previous posters I too already own lots of SD cards (PDA, digital cameras, DV etc) and after i got the SC SD I went on and bought more thinking that its so useful and I can use it with many other things if I ever (GOD FORBID) get bored of my NDS!

I have now placed an order for a SC-DS, which hopefully should arrive before the weekend. I choose the DS version simply because it sticks out less from the GB unit. And frankly, I would still choose the DS version even if I had a hundred CF cards laying around from cameras or PDA's.

Why? Well, it simply boils down to money, as always, and since I can fit all the games I would want onto a single 512mbyte SD card, I can't really justify using my CF cards (if I had any) and have them sticking out even more. The 512 SD card cost peanuts anyway, so why compromise.

I have the cf version and it works great.  Plus Cf cards are realitivily cheap.  Another thing is CF cards are really strong and dont damage that easily.
