How does the Game Boy Color do in extreme temperatures?

Hi

While having a portable entertainment device is useful for many reasons, to me, it's most useful quality is keeping me entertained in the car.

But, naturally, I sometimes forget to bring my entertainment device (aka my Nintendo DS), and when that happens... I don't have much to do in the Car.  >:(

The solution would be to keep my Nintendo DS in the car- except this is impractical, as the car is far from the only place I use my DS...

Then it occurred to me I could keep my old Game Boy Color in the car- it may be old, but it gives me something to do should I forget my Nintendo DS.

Except... The car gets very hot in the summer, and very cold in the winter, and I'm worried my Game Boy might break.

So, how does the Game Boy Color do in extreme temperatures? Has anyone had experience with anything like this, or know the system's hardware well enouph to make an accurate prediction?

Thanks in advance!

Well don't know about the cold, as it doesn't get too cold down here in Mississippi. But it does get hot as hell. I've left my DS in a hot car for a lonnnng time, in the sun, windows rolled up.......came back and it was just fine. A little toasty but still worked.  ;D

The GBC should handle perfectly fine. Nintendo products in general are ridiculously durable and indeed can handle vast ranges of temperatures. However in extreme temperatures you may find a few small issues with batteries. Some types of batteries seem to have reduced life in extreme temperatures and in cold enough environments simply won't work. Just keep them warm at a decent temperature and they'll be fine.

Hmmm...
*badly wants to try dipping a GBC in liquid nitrogen for 5 minutes, taking it out and trying to play a game*

Hi

Thanks Zorlin. That was the answer I needed.

I really feel the need to worry about the batteries- they are very cheap, and I can replace them easily of something happens. (Granted, so is the Game Boy Color, but the Game Boy Color is becoming old enough that finding one in good condition is somewhat difficult)
