Just fired up the new FFCC Jap version to take a look and see what we were in for later this year and I didn't get very far into the game before I ran into what I think were two separate piracy protection tactics from Square Enix.

Not sure, because I can't read Japanese.

1, There is a huge rotating pencil in the town, which i assume is the place to save your game. When you walk onto it, you get a frozen game on a screen that has a picture of a DS then a huge cross and an arrow pointing to a game cartridge. I am assuming the text says something like 'No Game Cartridge Detected' and I feel that they have something in the game that can tell that you are not playing it on a legit card.

2, Same freeze problems as Chrono Trigger, when you enter the first dungeon, as soon as you draw your sword, game freezes.

Anyway, i came onto here to have a look see what people were saying about it, and I can't see anything, did a google search about it and still found nothing. I'm guessing because it's Japanese and thus no ones tried yet. So I thought I might let people know what they're in for with the new FFCC when the eng version is released.

Interesting if the game can detect that it isn't in the right card though... sure it'll be cracked soon after it's released.

Starting to feel guilty, if square enix cares this much about piracy... coupled with their ridiculous money making scheme on wiiware 'My Life as a King'...  maybe they're in financial trouble and I really should be giving them the money for the game so I don't lose one of my fav game developers.... I might if I could buy the games direct and not have to pay a ridiculous amount in tax and retail over heads from my local store.
