QuoteI've not tried this, but a supermod over at the supercard chinese forums posted this patch you can apparently put in the scshell directory to get the game working-

http://bbs.supercard.sc/attachment.php?aid=3349&k=97eb7dd9e1f94bf0efcd3ca43f205631&t=1253784720&fid=13&sid=d7bbu1C3kIvlDiqi4csfUi76yEeIsXgbS%2FQaLfaVW1iHDRs

Options checked-
-enable patch
-patch speed
-DMA
-get patch from file (forgot what the exact wording was)

apparently you can have any options you want on now. I have NOT tested this yet, but it came from the makers, so give it a test. I believe you use this with a CLEAN rom. And you probably need to have an ndsinfo.dat with Mario's information in it to recognize the rom. Maybe not though, but there's someone on these forums that makes one if you do.

EDIT- yep, tested and it works. Got to saving and past the first battle. No freezes, no slowdowns, no loading, all working perfectly on my slow microSD. It just takes a little long to load the game up from firmware. Maybe 20 seconds or so, give or take some. Looks like it's finally fixed!  Grin

It worked til the point when i press start the game and chose a save file after that i cant do anything. Help? my sd is a 2gb kingston jap and i have an old ds phat if it matters

Let's go through the steps then.

1- are you using a slot-1 supercard. I don't think this is designed for slot 2 ones. People are saying it doesn't anyways. It's designed for the DSONE and the DSONEi.

2- make sure you've downloaded these two files-

http://forum.supercard.sc/attachment.php?aid=701&k=26a6acd05b7d7abaeaf2a0ad3926e474&t=1253861403&fid=6&sid=84e9AtiTI0AAUoJ5PZyBohnEoZs1q0ClU%2FLc40CfoK4T7U8

The first file is the latest ndsinfo.dat which may or may not be needed. The second is the ndspatch.dat, which is needed as it has the fix. At any rate, place both in the scshell folder on your microSD (the unzipped dat files of course).

3- have the following options checked in the options for the game in the firmware-
Enable Patch, Speed Patch, Patch Saver, Enable reset, Enable DMA, Enable find patch from file. MAKE SURE ALL OF THESE ARE CHECKED. Some of the options will be grayed out and not work properly if you didn't check all of those options. Make sure you click save too so it remembers these settings for that game.

4- Make sure you are using a clean, unpatched rom. If you have patched the rom before, you need to get a fresh copy that has no alterations. I'm not sure if a trimmed rom works, but you can test both trimmed and untrimmed to find out if you like. I've only used an untrimmed rom so far, meaning the rom is 128MB.

This should work fine even on a slow 2GB Kingston. I have one of those and it works great so far. Just as long as you follow the instructions, it should work properly. You can forget any other patches or cheats you might have tried before.

The only other thing I could tell you to do if this doesn't work is to try the self test. Hold L+R+Up while your DS boots up (with the supercard in the slot) until you get to a white screen with black text. Press A until it starts to count some numbers and letters. Wait for this counting to finish (takes about 15-20 seconds). If at any time you see any red text pop up after the numbers count, saying something like PSRAM ERROR!, you have a defective supercard. There are instructions around these forums for dealing with this though. But that might explain your problem.

do i have to rename the ndspatch.dat to the same name as the rom or do i leave it as is?

I have the latest ndspatch.dat and latest ndsinfo.dat. I have a clean, untrimmed, unmodified version of the game. I use the exact settings in your post and i get as far as the select save file screen and then I can't do anything. I checked for the PSRAM error and my Supercard is fine. Any idea what's wrong?
