Metroid: Other M

WOW!  :D What a game. This game is probably in the top 3 games ever made for the Wii. I loved the Metroid Prime series, but for the Other M they have completely changed the game again. The game goes from the old school 2D side scrolling, to a new 3D depth, to FPS mode and it does it all very fluidly. You only use the Wiimote, no nun chuck. When you want to go into FPS you simply point the wiimote at the tv and you go into visor mode. While in visor mode you can scan around the room and do more precise shooting, but you can't move around the room in FPS mode. The graphics are hands down the best ever for a Wii game. I play on a 56 inch HDTV and while playing the game you easily forget your playing a Wii game. Team Ninja must have maxed out the Wii's power on this game cause it looks amazing. I also love that the cut scenes are so well produced and display in full HD video on the screen, no cropping or black bars during the cut scenes. This game will sell consoles (if there happens to be someone out there without a Wii,lol).

Here is the Game Trailers review:

The GT review complains about the dialog but there is hardly any during the game, it is spread out as the game is 99% action and only 1% dialog. The review doesn't do the story and dialog justice imho.

I've been thinking about getting this, but have read problems about trying to get it to work not to mention that after playing the Ninja Gaiden games, I'm not too enthusiastic about Team Ninja's capabilities.

No.  I've burned a few blank dual layers till it got expensive.  I know... I'm pretty stubborn when it comes to burning DVDs, but yeah... bottom line is I don't know what to do about this.

Sounds like a bad burn or you d/l a bad copy. There is no new protection on the disc. Sure your disc matched the region of your Wii?

I matched the region right.  I think part of the issue maybe the fact that I used DVD-R DLs since I read that layer breaks don't work there.  I'm not sure how it relates to Error 001 which I happen to get a lot for this game.  Possibly a bad download though I read comments that the image should be 'good'.

EDIT:
Sonnuva... that's it!  I'm pretending this game doesn't exist!  >:(  Breeeeathe... breeeathe...  :-[

Something just occurred to me.  I remember that I have Wiikey 1 and the last update I know I did was 1.9g.  Do you guys think updating with the 1.99 BETA will help deal with this?  The last burn I had got some DREs but did got me to the main menu of the game.  Any ideas?

EDIT:
I've updated to 1.99 Beta and I'm no closer to running the game.  I am rather pleased so far with the performance of the 1.99 Beta update as it seems to make the console much more quiet.

I'm currently leaning on a bad burn, but I'm not sure what else I should be checking.  I've got only one +R DL left and I want to make it count.

Finally got a few hours in.  Pretty nice game though I find the story telling pretty laughable.
