Bricked DS Lite not flashed

This site is awesome! I have looked everywhere though and it seems that everyone with a bricker has been because it was either flashed or in the processed of being flashed. Mine is a little different. I have a flashed DS lite. My son's DS lite was not flashed. He can't says he doesn't know what happened to his but it is bricked. When I turn his on, all I get is a steady green light and nothing else. The screens are Black and no sound.  I took my DS apart and did a Mobo swap and his screens and sound work fine. I even tried to place my Bios on his Mobo and do the a+b+select+start thingy to Start the flashme process (because my Bios is flashed) and nothing. Can an unflashed Bricker be revived from the dead?

Here is the stuff I have that I can use:

DSTwo
DSOne
R4
SuperCard SD
One working DS Lite (flashed)
One working DS lite (not flashed)
One Bricked DS Lite (not flashed)

Thanks for the help!!!

Check if fuse F2 is blown.  That is usually the problem.  You can easily bridge fuse F2 with a small bit of wire and solder.

I finally had some time to look at that fuse. I tested it with a multimeter and it is good. In looking through the forum, the F2 fuse seems to control the power supply port (the gold one). That fuse generally is the culprit when you plug in the power supply and the orange lights turns on and then quickly turns off. Is there anything else that it could be? Any other way to fix it? I appreciate the help!

If F2 is for charging problem, then F1 is the fuse with the turning on issue... either one way or another.. google image search for ds lite F1 fuse and you should find a image. But honestly it doesn't seem to be either one...

It does indeed seem like a brick, however it is hard to get a brick, flashing problem and two virus (its basically just one) were the only reason of bricks.

So when you swap your "bricked" bios with another working bios did it work?

So you said you turn on a working taken apart DS lite start one of the flashme process, and swapped it with the bricked chip, then started the flashing process and flashed the bricked chip. correct? If you did then it maybe a motherboard problem as this should fix a bricked bios.

Here is another picture I took showing the location of fuse F1 . . .

Thanks for the help. It is neither of the Fuses. I checked them both and they seem to be ok. To recap, Here is the problem:

I get a green light with my son's motherboard and nothing on the screens and no sound either. If I put my Motherboard in his DS Lite, both of his screens and sound work perfectly.  If I take his Bios chip and put it on my Motherboard, it also works perfectly. If I take his Motherboard and his Bios (or my Bios) all I get is a steady green light with no sound and no picture on either screen...totally black and silent. Since I can't seem to find anywhere about totally bricked motherboards (everything I have read is about bricked DSs during a Flashme process), I am at a total loss as to how to fix it.  There's got to be a way. The Motherboard is confirming that everything is ok because of the steady green light...so what could it be? Thanks all!

I hate to state the obvious but your sons DS Lite mainboard (motherboard) is malfunctioning. Technically it isn't "bricked" because the BIOS module worked when you connected it to your DS Lite mainboard. If it was "bricked" then your mainboard wouldn't have booted with your sons BIOS module.

The term "bricked" is used to describe corrupt firmware flashed to the BIOS module, whether it be accidental while installing FlashMe, or by malicious software.  Regardless your sons DS Lite firmware (BIOS) is fine so there must be a physical problem with the mainboard. There are only a few things an average person can troubleshoot with a DS Lite . . .

1) Make sure the battery is good.  A DS Lite won't power up with a bad battery, even with the AC charger plugged in.
2) Make sure fuses F1 and F2 are good.  Fuse F2 is the most common problem.
3) Make sure the DS firmware is good.  This can be tested by swapping the BIOS module to a known good DS Lite.
4) Make sure the ribbon connectors from the LCD screens are fully inserted and properly fastened to the mainboard.  A DS Lite won't power up if the LCD screens aren't properly connected.
5) Look for broken traces or a hairline crack on the mainboard.

If all of the above have been verified then the mainboard is malfunctioning. A mainboard malfunction can be anything, a bad capacitor, a bad IC, bad RAM, etc. and repair is beyond the scope of the average person.  The standard procedure at this point is to replace the DS Lite mainboard.

Ouch! That hurt!!! I figured I was AOL (all outta luck), LOL, but it was worth a shot anyway. Thank you for the help!

Hi everyone, I have 2 ds's with the exact same problem, i never flashed any, fuses are ok, L2 is ok, wifi module couldn't be better, I've been struggling with them for the past two years, yes I'm really stubborn, but yesterday I finally found what was causing the non booting of the system, the system halts beforre the welcome screen wich I believe it's caused by faulty or cold solder joints on L5 and/or L6, i figured this by pressing hard on them and turning up the system, it booted! today I'll try to resolder L5 n' L6, hoping thats just a broken solder connection.

I've seen tons of forums and posts without a repair for this, I've also saw a lot of dsl for sale on ebay with the same problem, remeber to push hard on the L5/6 because of the common problem of the L2, and it looked to me that it would be an inductor problem, maybe im wrong but its worth the shot!

That's good information.  Thanks for posting.
