Potential Canadian Buyer, some questions before buying

Ok so i live in Canada (eh) around the toronto area and im interested in buying this flash card. i just have some concerns. One being how much would it be altogether after shipping and all that other crap and also what would be the cheapest place overall for me to get it from (im assuming its hopebuy?). being screwed over with shipping prices before, id really not like to make the same mistake twice. is there any surcharges and stuff (planning to pay with paypal with netteller or something like that- not exactly my paypal account, just getting someone else to get it for me)? well i registered to see how much it would be,

apparently it would be $64.50 USD($40 for card + 24.50 for express cost- im assuming express means for delivering. i was only allowed to choose express). at the bottom it says "When you use the paypal to make the transfer the payment to us , We will charge more 4% of your total amount to be our administration expenses ." so that would mean it would really be $67.08 adding that 4% right? again is there any other tax and stuff i should add to it.

also what would be a reasonable price to get a 512mb flash card? im not gonna buy it from hopebuy because i believe i can get it cheaper from other people i know. im pretty sure i can get it for $40-50 canadian from a guy used which is around $35-40 USD...... fair price? also i hear the supercard can only use Type I flash cards. im planning on buying an old sandisk 512mb card from some guy but i have no clue if its type I or II.
does this cf card mean its type 1 http://www.sandisk.com/download/photos/retail/cf_512mb_straight.jpg??

heh sorry for my essay, its just im kinda paranoid at the internet.i need these questions answered asap. thanks in advance

Here's a Canadian distributor that should have much lower shipping charges.

If you search the Fatwallet forums for compact flash you can find some pretty good deals on CF cards after rebate.

thanks, this site actually gives me the GST and PST when i buy it which would make this dealer a total of $66.64 USD. i thought the exchange rate for US-Canada was $1.17 but its 1.21 now, curses.

i was thinking of getting the CF combo which comes with reader and supercard (no cf card) also which would be about $9 USD more. would that be worth it or am i paying too much for a reader. i pretty much have the 512mb card in the bag for $40 canadian so i just need the cf reader.

Thats exactly the deal I got. The 9 dollars for a cf card reader I would say is average. Some readers can take multiple cards and are like 40 dollars though.

$9 for a CF reader is good if it's USB 2.0.  Most retail stores sell USB 2.0 CF readers for about $20.

Yeah, $9 (USD) is good for a USB CF reader.  If it's a 1.1 or (God forbid!) 1.0, then it's average.

k i buy it with the reader then. damnit, i was about to order my supercard +reader from kicktrader on wednesday but theyre all on back order or out of stock. any ideas how long they take to get back on stock? should i just order it even though its in backorder or wait till they go back on stock to be safe.

alias_neo

ahhh, they jacked up the price at kicktrader   instead of one supercard being a total of $66.64 USD, now its $78.14 >_< i dont get why would they do this. i have a feeling hopebuy would be cheaper right now. this really bites. first its in back order on the day i was going to buy it and now they jacked up the price. its even more expensive than the combo was before.

anyway, if they keep the price the same should i buy it from them or would hopebuy be worth it. lol i know im kinda nagging a lot.

Diablo

They're about comparable at this point.

If you order the SC from HopeBuy, it'd be $67.  Add a CF reader from NewEgg for about $13-15, and you're at around $80 altogether.
