Ok, I tried to search posts before asking this, but no luck.
I have GBA SP, SD Supercard and 1gb SD Card.
So far so good - some specific games sometimes restart while playing and take me to main menu, but that's not my biggest problem.

Here is my problem:
I finally found a rom, here is the name:
1473 - Tennis no Ouji-sama 2004 - Stylish Silver (J)

NOW, on my PC, this game loads in VisualBoy Advance emulator and plays fine. But, it does not load in my GBA SP. I tried many times, shows loading, but then screen goes blank and I have to restart the system.

I am not sure if the problem is the size of this (size is 32.0 MB).

I have the latest SD Card software and it reads/saves this rom to out like any other game. Ialso have latest update too.

If anyone had similar problem and know what should I do, please post reply, I got email notification "on" so i can see when answer is posted right away.

Thanks in advance.

it is probably the size because with the patches it becomes bigger than 32MB, but someone else will explain...me too tiered. :?

yeah most likely yes, since its 32mb or 256 megabits(the same) and thats pretty much the supercard limit on gba games. i know it sucks. riviera is 32mb and doesnt work either.

I don't think it has anything to do with the ROM being 32 megabytes. Riviera works well as a 32 megabyte game on the Supercard.

It's most likely caused by the fact that the Supercard patcher could not patch the ROM correctly for it to run properly on the Supercard.

Follow-up: I tried the game with teh following settings:
- Enable Save
- Enable Saver

It works without any problems on my GBA SP.

Ok, so I did try option noted under "help with rivera" posted by KTZM, and now I AM able to turn the game on and play. So, at least I can play. (Thanks, KTZM) However, like hi said in follow-up, there is no way to save the game and play where you stopped before turning off. I'll check that compatibility stuff...
Thanks everyone for your input!

You can try to use the Fast Restart patch in the GBA Compat section for Riviera. It allows L+R+Sel+Start save to SD or CF.

Thanks, I'll try that! I've found earlier made roms of the same game, that are 1/2 the size and work fine. I just wanted it becose is tennis game, but I have few other ones that I will play more often anyway.

Although some games do restart a lot, I almost need to save every 5 min. so I don't loose the played portion... Is that becose some roms are just not good or there is something that can be done to avoid this?

Happy Holidays!

Update:

Thanks for the info, bubble2k! I just tried that and it works just fine! Although I did not quite understand the whole process, after few tries here is what I did:

I dragged/droped ROM to "fastrestart", which made ( "game" stands for name of the game): game.rom & game.save.

Then I Used Super Card software to add that game.rom to it and send it to OUT with "SAVER PATCH" checked ONLY.

And finally, I added that game.rom from OUT and original game.sav to SD card and works great. Saving and Loading after restarting and pulling the card out and plugging it in again work fine. I did not even use compress. (rom is 32768K) (By the way, seems like in order to change Options in Super Card software, you need to change them first, then close the software and open again, so new options are set.)

Anyway, I think I will do this with few other games that keep restarting while playing, it may help, you never know.

Thanks again for everyone's support!

No problem. Although I don't quite understand how some of your games restart while playing. Care to share which games are giving problems?

Happy Holz to you too.

Thinking about it, looks like most are non-us:
- 1473 - Tennis no Ouji-sama 2004 - Stylish Silver (J)
- 1474 - Tennis no Ouji-sama 2004 - Glorious Gold (J)
these 2 I could not even load untill I used saver patch only, then I could not save but it played. It kept freezing douring the game. (Now I got one working thanks to you, did not try other one yet, and did not play long enough to see if it will freeze now).

- 0885 - Tennis no Ouji-sama 2003 - Cool Blue (J)
- Tennis no Ouji-sama 2003 - Passion Red (J)
these 2 work, but both eather freeze or restart while playing. I will try to use fastrestart system on them to see if it helps.

- Tennis Masters Series 2003 (E) (M6)

This one also restarts (or freeze, not sure), and it is very annoying, as this is, by my opinion, probably the best tennis gba game so far (as far as "real" looking tennis game - I do like Mario tennis games too, though). I also tried 2 different downloads, and still same thing. Again, will try fastrestart on any games that had problems).

- sonic the hedgehog 2 (ue) (v2.2)
This is actually a Sega Master System game rom (which SuperCard supports, along with orig. GB, GameGear, PC engine and NES roms - I'm sure you knew this, here is the info: gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=27308 )

Other then that, I am sure maybe few more had restart problem, but I can't remember which ones as I had SCard for a short period of time. I am still trying to see which games I would like and I am getting tennis ones first.

Ether way, SuperCard is great and few flaws are ok, but if it could be fixed to work, why not :)
