Hi,

I have been reading for most of the evening and I think I know how to get the DS to play a back up of a DS game. Could somebody just confirm and fill in the blanks.

1. I just bought the DS so it probably has the new firmware. It is blue. Does this mean I have to do this first http://scdev.org/index.php?cat=info&tutorial=flashme_passme2?

The first step has me downloading what appears to be saved game info.. I don't undestand step 2. Should I get the metroid prime demo and save a game before starting the procedures outlined in the link.
I am unsure at what point I have to bridge SL1.
Anyway after the bios has been flashed, all I have to do is copy my DS backups on to the sd card then put the sd card in the ds to play them?

Step by Step:

1.- Get a passme2 and a supercard (I suppose you already have them)
2.- You have to get a passme2 built exactly for your original cart (NDS) so if you have metroid demo, get the files for metrois, if you have nintendogs, the files must be for nintendogs
3.- Put both files (*.gba and *.sav) on your Supercard, also put the firmware update if you haven't done it, put also flashme binary
4.- Put a game in the passme2, put the SC in the NDS, DON'T put the passme2 in the NDS
5.- Turn on NDS, run the GBA file you just installed and you have to insert the passme2 at this moment.
6.- A menu should appear, and now you can choose flashme.nds
7.- Pres X B X B (or whatever flashme asks)
8.- You should already have the battery cover removed, and be ready with a screwdriver or metalic paper, or something.
9.- remove the little sticker, use the metal thing to short SL1. BE very careful:
DON'T TURN OFF THE POWER ONCE THE INDICATOR MOVES FROM 0%
DON'T REMOVE THE BATTERY
It will take about 20 seconds.
once it's complete reset your NDS. remove passme, and all you have to do now is pres ABXY while booting to acces the supercard menu.

I hope it's clear enought

you should leave your power cable plugged into your ds to make sure that your battery does not die on you, or just make sure your battery has a good charge so that it will not die in the middle of you flashing your ds.if it does die during the process your ds will be broken. i think that there is a way to recover though, but it involves opening up your ds and doing some soldering to it

thanks mikesinclair I forgot to mention that :P
The method to recover the NDS is difficult, (need to solder and cut some parts of the MB) so I suggest you to take extra care when flashing :)

I got the blue one, it never came with a cart. So I guess step 2 is confusing me. I can get the metroid demo cart if need be. I am also going to order my loader for it tonight.. is this method the same regardless of loader or flasher.. I mean can I follow these steps on the m3? What flasher do you have?

hi

in step 6

i take it you when you turn the ds back on if it was sucscessfull then you would see the menu straight away and not the health and safety warning is that right?

Yep, if passme/passme2 is working correctly then the DS's default menu and the h&s screen will not show.

I have heard of the blue/cobalt DS's that were brought out first, and the ones bought lately (just around Christmas time) have the old DS firmware that didnt require PassMe2 (although if you are unsure, PassMe2 should work on ALL DS's out now) - the exception being the color DS bundles like the nintendogs one.
