Hi
I gather you need to be in GBA mode in your NDS when you update the SuperCard firmware - forgive my ignorance (& if this has already been covered elsewhere) but what does that mean & how do you get into GBA mode???  What happens if you're not in GBA mode....(whatever that is etc)?
thanks in advance.

.scu files do not require you to be in GBA mode

If the update file is in .bin format you need to be in GBA mode.

I would think GBA mode would be pretty self explainitory... it's when you go into the DS's load menu and you choose to play a game from the GBA slot.

edited: lol now thats just embarassing - yep what i meant was don't stick your passme in

tobster

thanks koji for the info. Out of interrest, how else would you upgrade the SuperCard firmware if you didn't use the GBA slot?

Your Supercard only goes into the GBA slot.    :|

O_o I think you ment superpass. Make sure you don't have a super pass or a passme in the DS slot.

Thaive: You have to have the supercard in the DS slot, but the .scu update files don't require you to boot into GBA mode. You could update the file in DS or GBA mode.

indeed MrEkli, but what was thaive talking about 'don't have your suparcard in' ???
So, the bottom line is, if/when I want to update the firmware on my SuperCard then i put the latest firmware bin file on the SC, insert it in the superCard which is in the GBA slot.  As this seems to be the only way to run SuperCard, why do they say you have to run the update in GBA mode, when this is the only way to run a SuperCard, or have I missed something....it certainly implies that there is another mode of running a SuperCard apart from GBA mode.

If you have a DS, you can also run your supercard in DS mode. DS mode is when you use flashme or a passme. It allows you to run DS games from your GBA slot.

If you want to play DS games off of your supercard, you must be in DS mode.

If you want to play GBA games off of your supercard, it's recommended that you play them in GBA mode (though you can play GBA games in DS mode... it's just a waste of power since it turns both screens on).

If yur DS has flashme you can hold start and then power the DS on, this gets you in to GBA mode.
Supercard SD, Sandisk 2 GB, AData  256 MB
Supercard One - 512MB Transcend
Pink DSL with flashme v8a Org-FW  haven't checked

Start forces the DS to the system menu, if it's set to automatic boot.
B forces to GBA mode.

Additional hotkeys with FlashMe:

Select skips FlashMe check.
ABXY forces FlashMe to engage.
Manually signing your posts is dumb.

Firmware versioning: Get a Passcard 3, a SuperKey, or a slot-1 flashkit. Then it doesn't matter which firmware you have.

phew, tpyos seems to be epidemic in this post.  At least (or should that be at last..) you guys have managed to clear up the DS VS GBA mode scenario for me, and also the hotkey info - all v useful info, so thanks.  Out of interest what would happen if you tried to update your Supercard firmware when in DS mode?

If it's an .scu file? It'll upgrade like normal.

If it's a .bin file... I THINK it just gives you an error but I haven't tried it myself. If romman (the creator and maintainer of supercard and it's software) says not to install the .bin files while in DS mode, I'm going to trust him to know what he's talking about.
