I was originally going to order a passme 2 as well as a supercard cf. From the reading I was going to do I thought I understood that you either needed a Passme2 OR Flashme to be able to play roms on your NDS.

I just ordered the Supercard CF figuring that I would just do the firmware flash and I would be good to go. Now someone tells me I need both the Supercard and the Passme2 so I can play the roms I have.

I am soooo confused! It may just be me but it seems that everyone has different things to say on this. Too bad there isn't a guide for nubs like me that teaches us from start to finish what we need to have in order to play roms.

I will be getting my Supercard CF in a couple of days. If someone would be willing to walk me through step by step what I need to do I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks  :)

I'll try to explain to you. Flashme is process in witch you mod your DS's firmware, so you can play the DS's roms from the flash card. To get your DS flashed, if you have one with the old firmware, you either need passme or a wifi router (wifi me). You can also play the DS roms with the passme connected to your DS.

If you have the DS with the new firmware, you'll need passme 2 to do the flashing process. It is a fairly more complicated process in this situation.

Note that after flashing your DS you don't need passme or passme2 anymore.

HAHA! Awesome xogum, that is exactly what I have been looking for. Thank you for giving me a straight forward answer, it seems that most places I have read they go into detail explaining how the passme works instead of just telling me what I need to do with it, lol.

That clears up a lot of confusion for me.

Next question I have if you are willing is where should I get the new firmare and flashme and HOW to I use the flashme to put the new firmware on?

Thanks!

Thanks!

get flashme here: http://ds.gcdev.com/dsfirmware/  (i think this is what you mean by 'new firmware')

and when you ask how to use 'flashme' to put new firmware on, i think you mean 'passme' not flashme..

you put flashme (from above site) on your supercard or other flash cart.  insert said flashcart into the GBA slot of your DS.

Put an original DS cart into the passme, and insert passme+original cart into the DS slot of your NDS.

Turn on your DS... the passme will send requests for DS code to the GBA slot.  you can then access flashme from your gba flashcart. run flashme.

Please search for instructions on how to run flashme. there are PLENTY of detailed tutorials.  no need to retype them here.

Passme2: if you have the newer firmware DS and need to use passme2, the process is a little more complicated, as xogum said.

Please search 'passme2' and read up on it. check http://www.dspassme.com for a detailed explanation of what you need with passme2.

Right on sneef, I appreciate your help  :D

I have yet another question, shocking as that may be lol. The roms I have that I want to play after I go through the above directions - do I just put them on my CF card, CF card into the Supercard, Supercard into the GBA slot on the NDS and turn on the NDS? This is of course after I have done as you said and used the passme2 to use the flashme and change my firmware.

The roms I have that I want to play currently look like "0041 - Name of Game (E)(Brassteroid Team).nds" or "0071 - Name of Game (U)(Trashman).nds" Do I just put these roms on the CF as is or do I need to rename or convert them to some other format?

Once you have FlashMe installed, if you want to enable it you have to press and hold ABXY all at once when you power on your DS. Otherwise your DS will just power up like normal as if FlashMe is not there. In other words, when playing DS ROMs from SuperCard, when you turn on your DS, please press and hold ABXY all at once. If playing original NDS games or GBA games, power up like normal without pressing anything.

As for your ROMs, you NEED to run it through the ROM patcher prior to putting them on CF. The ROM patcher is available official site as well as under "Downloads" at this web site. After patching you should get 2 resulting files, one will be .sav and the other file's extension depends on your patching option, put them both on your CF.

Wicked bud, thanks again for all your help. You have cleared up a lot of confusion for me = }

I ran a game through it and it came out with "0002 - GameName (U)(Trashman).nds.dsq" and "0002 - GameName (U)(Trashman).nds.sav"

When my Supercard and Passme2 arrive I will give all this a whirl and hopefully be up and playing in no time. Thanks again for all the help.
