FilePlay Says CF not FAT or FAT32

Got my SuperCard today and it works great for games. I can't get FilePlay to work. I've tried two different 128MB cards with FilePlay on it alone and with other stuff. I always get a message saying the CF is not FAT or FAT32. That's stupid, since the games work fine. And FAT32 doesn't work at all in the SC. I really wanted to read ebooks with this thing. Anyone know why FilePlay doesn't like my cards and anyone know of a different ebook reader?

First of all, it's FilmPlay, not FilePlay.

How was your CF card formatted?  Just because the games work now does not mean they will continue to work, that they will have complete functionality, or that the CF card was formatted correctly.

What version of firmware are you using?  If v1.43, try v1.41 (I know that's a previous version, just trust me).  What version of FilmPlay.bin are you using on your Supercard?  Are you passing it through the Supercard patching software?

Ah, FilmPlay  :) It should be FilePlay, don't you think? Let's see, I formatted both CF with WinXP formatter on my laptop. Formatted them FAT with default allocation sizes. I was at 1.43 and was using the FilmPlay from this site FilmPlayen.rar. At your suggestion I degraded the ROM to 1.41. At this point I don't get the same message but get another message in Chinese with the words CF and Start embedded. Hitting start gives me a black screen. Thanks for your prompt reply!

No problem.

Try the second download mirror for the GBA Movie Player listed in this thread and see if it works for you.

Speaking of GBA Movie Player ...

Anyone know why I keep getting this error message from the GBA Movie Maker?

---------------------------
An Error has occurred
---------------------------
Cannot load the file 'blahblahblah.avi' using the conversion driver. Conversion failed.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

then...

---------------------------
An Error has occurred
---------------------------
Cannot find the matching audio file!
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

---------------------------
An Error has occurred
---------------------------
Cannot add the file 'M000xx.gbm'. Either this file is not a valid video file or the GBA Movie Maker does not support the file format.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

I tried like 10 different AVI files, no luck. =/

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program?

What have you done since it stopped working?  Updated Windows?  Moved the installation folder?

Yup, tried some uninstalls and reinstalls, doesn't work.

I did nothing related to it, and this problem happened on day 1. (Same day I got my Supercard and found the SanDisk problems) :P

Well, I'm using Meteo 1.4 anyways instead :P

OK, I've figured out part of this. I was using two different 128MB CF cards, a Polaroid and a Toshiba. Both of them worked fine with games including gba, gb, nes, etc. Both of the caused errors with FilmPlay where it would say that neither of them was formatted FAT or FAT32. Out of the blue I remembered I had an old SanDisk 32MB card in an HP camera. I formatted it on the Thinkpad like I did the others and it worked fine with FilmPlay.

So, there are a class of CF cards that work fine with the Supercard for games but don't work with FilmPlay. Perhaps we should modify the FAQ. It would also be nice to start a thread or a list comparing different cards.

Thanks to Diablo for his work on this site.

As a follow up, I bought a 512MB SanDisk card today and it worked fine for FilmPlay and everything else.
