Hi, I read ina forum (I searched here but seems it was not here) that there is a way to Identify your NDS firmware by doing a software trick:

Turn on the NDS with an NDS cart inside, then go to pictochat roomA and remove the cart, both screen should appear with a color, currently I only know that flashme v5 returns a green screen. Unfortunately, I lost the post (and the site where I think I saw it is down) So if anyone can provide info on different version, taht could help a lot.

There hasn't been enough testing done for this to be completely reliable; some people with FW4 have reported Dark Green screens.
Manually signing your posts is dumb.

Firmware versioning: Get a Passcard 3, a SuperKey, or a slot-1 flashkit. Then it doesn't matter which firmware you have.

Dudu.exe

the best way to be sure.. is to UNFLASH you ds.. and flash it with the newer version..

You never have to use noflashme to install a new version of FlashMe. Just install on top of the old version. (And there's a v6 in beta that you can find at GBADev. It'll be officially released soon.)

Edit: v6 also tells you what version it is, what version your firmware currently is, and what version your firmware originally was.

Olimar/Loopy was able to test this for all firmware versions.

Very interesting. I tried it myself, and my results are consistent with most everyone else.

v1: hang
v2: blue
v3: green
v4: yellow
flashme: green (flashme is based on v3, so no surprise there)
ique: green

Looks to me like a reliable detection method.

Yeah looks solid.

So, in other words, yellow screens are likely to need passme2?

Almost definitely, yes.
