karurosu already said it in his post but...

Changes:
- shows your old firmware version
- fixed booting problems with with Darkain's MultiNDS and NeoFlash loaders
So in other words it's useless to SC users.

well i updated anyway and that was with out bridging the SL1 it went to 100% no problems

then run it again and it tells you the new v6 current v6 old v2 for me

Ok, so v2 units need no bridging, v3 units do. Good thing to keep in mind when you start this! Check to see what it says before you start, if you see v3, get that screwdriver handy before you begin!

That's a very good point. Mine was FWv2 and FlashMev5 before I installed v6.
Manually signing your posts is dumb.

Firmware versioning: Get a Passcard 3, a SuperKey, or a slot-1 flashkit. Then it doesn't matter which firmware you have.

I just confirmed this with another unit tonight. This unit was a v2, and it did not need bridging.

From what I read over at GBADev, version 1-3 are old firmware (I can attest to this, as this v3 unit I have worked with the original Superpass) while the newer DS is v4. Must be something different in v3 that makes it require bridging. I'd like to get an explanation on why this is still tho, just out of curiosity.

hi guys, i figured that i want to contribute abit.. not just being a new NDS owner and SCDev reader.

i tested the FW color test, as explained by Loopy in one of the forum.. i turn on my NDS with Mario Kart DS, go to Pictochat, Room A, take out the Mario Kart DS and it shows YELLOW
ok so it is firmware V4.

then i did FlashMe V6, which shows Original FW: V4, Current FW: V4

it works great, i was so paranoid of ruining my NDS during the SL1 short. but now i can play NDS games on my SuperCard-SD.. i'm very happy~!!!  :D

You still need to bridge, it may work without a bridge, but in order to update the code in your secure area of the firmware you need to bridge.

lecudas

Confirmed: Original FW v.2 does not need to be bridged.

zektor

Is Flashme 6 just not writing to the protected area on v2 devices? Because if it is and it does not need bridging, that is pretty scary.

It probably has to do with the difference between v2 firmware and v3 firmware.

Also, I haven't seen any reports on whether people with originally v1 or v4 have had to bridge again.

I can disprove the V3 theory.

I just upgraded from V5 to V6 without shorting SL1. My original firmware as stated by flashme was V3. I don't know if it makes a difference but its a European model

johnm

Just a question though. If I wanted to go from flashme V6 to flashme_stealth V6 would it require an SL1 short.
