I searched through the forums and didn't see anyone else mention getting a microdrive to work; so I wanted to let everyone know... IT WORKS.

I had to saw off the edge of the supercard to make the type II card fit, but once I did that it works fine. Will post pictures soon.... Will also post after I've been using it for more than a short while without problems.

As mentioned elsewhere; I did have to format the card with 64kb blocks. (just use the format command under a command prompt and it will do this automatically if you set the filesystem format to regular fat)

Thanks for the report.  That's interesting information.  I wonder what the battery life is like with a microdrive compared to a regular CF card.

HORRIBLE! Compare it to the 4GB HDD adapter for PSP, they include an X2 battery that doesn't extend the life it just balances out because of power consumption. I am surprised it works though, what RPM is the microdrive you tested?

The battery life is no different than using the system normally. I played for 4+ hours without charging. I did notice that when it got low the red light would flash when the drive was accessed though, so it does use a noticeable amount of power. The thing is, most games don't access the card all the time, they only access when needed. I would say to yank the card out to prove a lot of games will keep running... lol... but I have no wish to damage my card or system.

I am using a Hitachi 4gb Microdrive, CF+ Type II, Part number 0A40241(3k6 128kb buffer)

The hard drive adapter for the PSP cannot even be compared, because the PSP does not contain a compactflash port... it doesn't even have a host usb controller. The PSP itself is a USB device... so any adapters have to act as a usb host themselves. Needless to say that draws more power.

It is kinda silly to say something has horrible battery life by comparing it to something different... not to mentioning yelling horrible is even worse.

I have noticed some odd things though. They may or may not be related to the microdrive. Games freak out if you close the clamshell of the DS while a game is running. I assume this is a glitch with how the supercard works and not related to the microdrive? -will try it out on a faster card...- *edit* answer is here on the forums.... it was because I didn't have a ds card in the slot... see:
