hi,
i have some strange problems when using the sc-software to convert roms for the sc.
system: winxp / sc v. 2.20
steps.
a) renamed roms with gba-renamer
b) load sc software
c) enabled options and directories
d) closed sc software and restarted it
e) add a renamed rom
e) press "out"
f) get a
-sav file length 65536 bytes
-sci fike length 458752 bytes
-gba file 518 bytes (!!!)
it doesn"t matter wich original rom length the output rom only has 518 bytes witch is obviously wrong....
the converting goes in half a second wich too cant be right....
whats my problem?

thanx in advance for your help

Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing the software?  Have you rebooted your system since you installed it?  Did you move the software to a different folder after installation?  Have you tried patching with no options enabled?  Have you tried re-downloading and installing the software from one of our mirrors?  Have you tried using the 2.10 version of the software?

it was the newest version of the sc software wich made the problems....

mysterious, but at least problem solved:-)

thnx diablo fpr the hint...

Diablo

WTF?

Most curious indeed.  At least your problem was solved, though.

when i add the file to the software, it shows the "patch" item "fail" , wat's happened?

when i output , i still have .sav file , .gba file, .sci file and .scz. Does it ok?

my cf is formatted n showed fat32, right again?

An original, pure ROM, yes.

Just because you get a "Fail" message in the patch column doesn't mean the ROM wasn't successfully patched.  The patch fail message could mean several things:
  • The Supercard patching software was unable to identify the ROM and locate the proper patching information for it from the rominfo.dat file.
  • You did not enable the "Enable saver Patch" option when patching the ROM.
  • The ROM is corrupt or overdumped, an alternate version, or a non-release ROM (such as an injected emulator ROM, a PD ROM, or a homebrew ROM).

The Supercard patching software doesn't output a .gba file and a .scz simultaneously.  If you enable compression, you will get a .scz file, but not a .gba.  If you don't enable compression, you will get a .gba file, but not a .scz file.

Your CF has to be formatted in normal FAT, not FAT32 (normal FAT is either FAT12 and/or FAT16, I can't remember at the moment).

then what 's the problem?

it confuses me very much and no idea to sucess :(

Diablo

So you've reformatted the CF to FAT, instead of FAT32?

What ROM(s) have you tried?  Have you verified them?  Have you tried using v2.10 of the Supercard patching software?  Have you tried enabling different options when patching (nothing enabled, just "Enable Save" and "Enable saver Patch", "Enable Save", "Enable saver Patch", and "Enable Restart" enabled, et cetera)?

What happens when you load the ROMs on your GBA?

well....i dun download v2.10 and the ROM is downloaded from the net. Would it be demaged? Because the GBA is not in my hand now so I can't try the different situation.

I tried just "Enable Save" and "Enable saver Patch", it outputs .gba and .sav two files.

then?

Diablo

Most ROMs are downloaded from the net.

You need to verify that your ROMs are not overdumped or corrupt.  Look in the "Much faster Supercard software mirror" sticky for links to the proper tools.

What ROMs are you trying?  Some require certain patching configurations, or are just not compatible.  What happens when you try playing the games on the GBA?  Do you get a white screen?  A black screen?  Does the game load to the menu?

I am sorry to ask what is the function of rominfo.dat? and I have downloaded just now.

And which one is for me to check the ROM corrupted or not?

Diablo

Everything is explained in the "Much faster Supercard software mirror" sticky.
