Anybody know how to upgrade it?
The instructions on the movieadvance.com just plain confusing.

All you need to do is uninstall the current version you have on your PC, then install the new version.

EDIT:  I've added the download link, as well as a mirror for the file, in the Much faster Supercard software mirror sticky.

Can anyone confirm that the output from this new conversion software is compatible with out filmplay.bin?  The official site seems to suggest that an upgrade is necessary to lay files created by this program.

I converted some music files with it and they worked fine.  I'll test a movie clip in a sec.

EDIT:  Okay, so the audio portion of the converted files is fine, but the video is garbled.  I tried with the "Best" option, as well as the "Normal" option with the new FilmPlay.bin (I can't test the old one) and v1.43 firmware.

It looks like if you're converting audio files it's fine, but you can't really use it for converting video files until either it or the FilmPlay.bin is modified.  Perhaps using v1.3's video drivers will remedy the problem?  Of course, that may negate the whole purpose of a revision.

Yeh, I just confirmed this for myself as well.  I have to say though that the audio is actually sounding a lot crisper at 32:1 mono :)

Edit:  Perhaps best to revert the mirror back to v1.3 (or whatever version it was)?

Both versions are mirrored.

I had installed the new version last night and it just kept freezing on me whenever I loaded a avi to convert.

Anyway, it looks as though they released a new update for their mediaplayer (e18) which I'm guessing is to allow compatibility between the new 'Crystal Engine' movie convertor and the mediaplayer. I'm guessing that anything converted with this new file won't play unless you've got the latest firmware update (e18).

Just my 2ยข...

Yes, that is the source of the incompatibility.  That's why I recommended trying to revert to the previous versions' drivers, and said either the package or FilmPlay.bin needs to be modified for it to work.

BTW, using the other drivers doesn't work, as the revision was in the engine, as Jebus posted.

I really hope we get an updated Filmplay.bin :) I've noticed before that they were using that crystal engine encoder for a long time before they released it becuz I tried dling some movies from their site and the video was all garbled.  I thought my file was corrupt, but my gf has a MP so I tried it on hers and it played fine.
