Hi!

I was wondering if anyone can help.

I'm about to buy a supercard/superpass to use on a DS, but i have a few niggling worries before i do:

1. How do i run >256mb roms on it? the way it sounds, you have to copy the data from the SD cart to the Cart to use it, however the cart is only 256mb!!!

2. I read somewhere you need to use patches for games (ROM Position patch, for example) does anyone know where i get these? and how they work? I'm used to my EZF on my GBA, and that had no problems of this sort at all.

3. Do i NEED a SD/CF card to work this??? Is there any way to flash to the cart directly???

Thanks for any and all your help

1. Yes, the cart only has 32MB of usable RAM. But, if a game is larger, you can always run it from the SD/CF position. This means it will run directly from the memory card instead, and now of course the rom size is only limited to the size of your memory card. I personally prefer running every game from this position, as NDS titles load in 1 second, as opposed to a few when running from the SC position. I have personally not encountered any ill side effects (slowdown..etc) from using the memory card position. It is a great thing!

2. These are not the patches you are thinking of. I see you are coming from the flash cart world and are probably thinking of all of the misc IPS patches you had to fiddle with. These patches are built into the SC software, which is updated with each new release (current is v2.51) and sometimes updated via one DAT that is replaced in the program directory. All of the patching (Rom position..etc) is done from inside the software.

3. It is now called the Supercard "SD" or "CF" for nothing! Of course, you need a memory card. Without it you'll be greeted with an error message asking you to insert one, and that's it.

Thanks!!!

Is the data stored (When being used/played) on the SD card in Mbit (ie 256mbit/512mbit) or MB (ie 20mb-ish per game)?? What i mean is, If i get a 512Mb SD card, will I be able to store just one or two games? or can I store (and play from the SD card) Loads and loads of games???

you can store is many as you can fit on you sd or cf card.If the games are 64Mb you will beable to fit about 6 roms maybe more.  not all games are 64Mb alot are smaller.  I have a 2G sd card and I have 60 roms on it.  also have more space on the card- about 256Mb

SD and CF cards come in megabytes. There are 8 bits to a byte, so your 256Mb flashcard would be equivalent to a 32MB SD card.

Personally, on my 512MB SD card, I have about 20 GBA roms, 10 DS roms, a handful of gameboy games and a simpsons episode, and I think I have about ~40 megs free.
