just charge one battery up..and use it.!
jeez it lasts for nearly 8-10 hours.

Unfortunately seems everything is stored at volatile memory,s  so you'll have to do ir every time :(

A little suggestion regarding your battery:
When you are storing it, store it at 60%-70% to avoid damaging it, never discharge it completely, and every once a month use it.

i mean,isnt it just really really obvious that when the batterys in,you can save settings,remove it,and they get deleted!? insert battery,you can save settings,remove it,they get deleted..rinse,lather,repeat :?

you would be able to make contact with the power wire of your ds and turn on your ds and take out your bettery and plug in a new one if correct you would be able to have power on with out your bettary in it.

No you do not ... However ...

You MUST be quick about change the battery... within I'd say ... 2 seconds.

Works fine here, but you HAVE TO BE QUICK.
