i researched all the info i could RE: converting the .nds files to .dsq, I followed all the instructions and converted my files but am still getting blank screens when i boot up using my Supercard SD.

To summarise the steps i went through:
-unzip .nds file
-add to patching sofware
-convert (on default settings)
-add converted file to my SD card
-.......get blank screens :(

It's strange coz i already have a large selection of games (my friend loaded the for me) which all work but the ones i do myself won't load. Is there something i still need to do?
Any help would be appreciated soooo much.

Make sure your supercard firmware is the latest version (1.6). If you are using a supercard you just purchased chances are it's using old firmware that doesn't support the dsq format.

we need a bit more information.
true, make sure you use fw 1.6 and patcher 1.51 and make sure that the correct application name is in the taskbar. (eg. supercardsd not supercard or supercardnew.)
what kind of boot method do you use?
wifime gives white screens.

if I understand correctly and your friend uploaded the games to the supercard you are trying to add games to, the problem is either in the patcher or the rom.
If you extract the rom from a zip or rar then the roms is probably fine, if you download a .nds file directly it can be corrupted.

I think you problem lies with the patcher. make sure you download http://l33t.spod.org/ratx/DS/SC/setupsdV251en.rar and uninstall the previous version of the patcher.

Cheers for the swift replies guys.

Using v2.51 of patching software...is there anything that i should configure on the patching option maybe?

Not sure what version of firmware it is coz my mate did all the initial setup...it's definitely recent though (ie not the default SCard fw), he did it all about 2/3 weeks ago but i wasn't present to see what he did...have tried to call him to find out what fw he used but no answer.

I reckon the problem probably isn't in the fw coz i'm running a lot of recent games already...the games i'm trying to get running myself are generally older ones.

Am trying to get zipped files running, so it's not a case of having a corrupted .nds file.

Not sure about the boot method (again, as i didn't do the inital setup....in fact, i don't even know what that is...i've seen all these names like wifime floating around but don't know the significance). The screens generally come up white but on one or two occasions, certain games i've tried to load have yielded black screens as well.

Hey same deal, got all the newest firmware and SC software.  The naming of the files is bothering the shit out of me, nds.gba dsq all that jazz confuses me.  Do you need to patch homebrew?  All my commercial back ups work.  Its apps that wont load.  Do I rename after I patch? or before or at all?  Damn white screen sucks. I am using super pass and super card.

P.S.  Can you use the Wifi stuff with a Superpass in your ds?  Or will the Ds explode in yer  hands?

well it won't explode... to a certain degree.
it may lose it's magnetic cohesian and disintergrate at warp 3.4
whatever... you do NOT patch homebrew. you append a loader.
something I wrote on the dswifi forums
QuoteDownload ndsmall.bin from darkfaders site. here's a direct link: http://darkfader.net/ds/files/ndsmall.bin
Use the command: copy /b ndsmall.bin + ***.nds ***.nds.gba to append the loader to the file.
some flash cards(like the supercard) require you to rename the ***.nds.gba to ***.nds
ah and dsq is the patched game nds is the unpatched game gba is something gba-like and sav is a save file.
and .bin is some code thing too...
and scu is an update file...
stuff like that.

back to the point!!
your bootmethod, do you stick a special card in the back of your ds or does it start without one.
if it starts without one do you use the button combination ABXY at startup??

RE: my bootmethod, i have a superpass in the top (DS game) slot
don't use the ABXY method for loading.
