Would it be possible to homebrew a Pocket Tanks game for the GBA/DS?

That would kick so much ass.

Sadly, the closest retail equivalent (Worms) won't have wifi multiplayer. (And likely not download multiplayer, either.)

I'd love a Scorched Earth / Gorillas type game on DS.
Manually signing your posts is dumb.

Firmware versioning: Get a Passcard 3, a SuperKey, or a slot-1 flashkit. Then it doesn't matter which firmware you have.

scorched earth... ahhhh the memories.

How hard would it be to make a homebrew version? Probably not super hard. You'd just need to sit down and code it from scratch. Unless, of course, you can get some source code.

Actually there are several small old PC games I'd love to see ported. In fact many of them were ported to PPC and I enjoyed playing them quite frequently on my PDA when I had it.

Scorched earth is one of my all time favourite games.  The sheer number of weapons and gadgets kept things interesting, not to mention the different types of shields.  Pocket tanks is very good also, but it lacks some of the best elements from SE.  I would love to see a homebrew combination of the two games !

Someone should do this before the PSP version... which has a head start.. http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/scorchedearth.shtml  :?

DS Homebrew Scene. is not competing with PSP homebrew ... if they did good!!!

i dont see why this MUST be done before on PSP...

if you want so badly get the source code from this psp version and make a ds one!

When is comes to making a game like this, it's easier just to make a clone. It'd be a good project for anyone just starting out with DS programing. I wouldn't mind doing a game like this with someone who's just starting out with PAlib, it'd be a fun litttle project. It pretty much revolves around y=Vy0 -1/2gt anyway :P
pm if you've already done a helloworld for palib and want to work on making this a game.

holy shit, can't believe worms wont have wifi.... first AOE now this, 2 games that would've been perfect for online play, and yet you have tony hawks playing online..... go figure.
SC CF + 1GB Kingston CF + flashed NDS = a whole lot of fun.

Oh climb down off your high horse.  It doesn't really have to be done before the psp version, but It would be great to see it.  I would do it myself, but I am no programer.

BTW, anybody who is interested should check out this link, it's an interview with the game creator and has some useful info.  http://arstechnica.com/articles/culture/scorched.ars
