eBay likes to take down auctions that contain flash carts, as they see it as "promoting piracy". Especially with your mention of "homebrew and games".

Firmware versioning: Get a Passcard 3, a SuperKey, or a slot-1 flashkit. Then it doesn't matter which firmware you have.
