I have had my supercard for a month or so, so do I need to update/upgrade anything?

What should I read before I do it and on how to do it?
What else do I need to know/do?

Well, you might consider getting a firmware update if your's isn't the latest.

For that, just download the file, transfer it onto the SC, and then run it. Afterwards you can delete it.
