strange problems with Supercard SD + PassKey 2

Hello,

I searched the forum for an answer for my particular problem but couldn't find it, so I decided to make this topic.

I have a brand new Supercard (SD model) and a brand new PassKey 2.

As I undestand it, setting the PassKey 2 up should be a one-time-only process. So, following this guide closely, I did the following:

1) I chose which DS original game I wanted to use with the PassKey;
2) I ran the K2-RAM-XX.GBA file from my Supercard and activated the code for that particular game, then turned the DS off;
3) I inserted the game into the PassKey and the PassKey into the DS;
4) I turned the DS back on and the Supercard DS mode menu booted up successfully.

So far, so good. As long as I don't physically remove either the Supercard or the PassKey 2, the Supercard DS mode menu boots up like it should. I can turn the DS off and on again for several times, and still everything works as it should.

HOWEVER, if I physically remove the PassKey 2 (for example, in order to play an original DS game) or the Supercard (for example, in order to add some files to my memory card) from the DS, then re-insert them and try to boot up again, the DS will display the seizure warning screen and then freeze, showing nothing but two white screens.

The only solution to this has so far been that I go through the whole PassKey setup process every time I have to re-insert my Supercard or my PassKey into the DS. And every time it works fine after that. Granted, it only takes about 20 seconds, but according to what I have understood from different guides (that the procedure is a one-time-only-deal and only needs to be repeated when changing the original DS game that is used by the PassKey), this is not normal and is more than a bit frustrating...

(Notes: Also, I have been unable to upgrade my PassKey 2 using the programming cartridge, as the upgrade program says it can't recognise either the PassKey or the programming cartridge.)

As I don't want to FlashMe my DS and was planning to regularly use PassKey 2 with it, this is quite a problem for me. Have I missed some important step while setting up my PassKey 2 + Supercard SD combo? Or is my PassKey simply faulty? Many thanks in advance for any advice!

That sounds like the normal operation of a superpass2 with the supercard to me... maybe you read about a different flashcart with persistant SRAM.. the SC's isn't battery backed hence having to do the gba sav quick powercycle thing.

So the only way to run the Supercard in DS mode without using FlashMe is re-programming the PassKey/SuperPass every time the DS has been powered off for some time?

If so, well, damn. I was not aware of this and it certainly was not made very clear on the official Supercard home page.

But... Can this problem be solved by first programming the PassKey with another flash cart that has a persistent SRAM/battery and then continuing to use Supercard? Or is it necessary for the PassKey/Superpass to read information from the flash cart or Supercard every time it boots?

The passme2 needs to read from SRAM everytime - thats how it works...

Well, I'll seriously consider using FlashMe then. :) I understand that it should be relatively safe to do, but it still seems kind of risky to me.

All the same, thank you for the help!
