Like the complex title equasion states, I've been reading around a whole lot and just wanted to be sure, I bought one of these snazzy Supercard SD's today and my plans are to flash my early model DS using the supercard alone, by running flashme off the SD and shorting the SL1, without the use of a passme.

Now I would appreciate knowing if my plans are plausable as I've read this should work.  As I gathered info on modding the DS I realized I dident need to waste money buying a superpass if I flash the DS straight from the Supercard.  Hopefully I'm not mistaken.

Thanks. 8)

First time flashing then you gonna need that Superpass, or Wifime. THats the only way.

Ah crud. I suppose I should find which was would be cheapest then, too bad I dont know anyone with a passme to borrow.

So if I dont need to run DS stuff, I should be able to still run in gba mode and run non DS roms and so forth with the supercard right?.

So in order to flash your DS you just need a Supercard and Wifime installed on your computer? Does it work on a DS Lite?

ratx

No it doesn't work on lites.. it only works on old firmware DS's.. and you of course need a suitable network card for wifime... not every card will work...

whats the difference between superpass(2) and the passme(2).

On ebay some sellers have a little chart and it shows the superpass has high chance of system damage and complex installation over the passme's, is that just a load of doo doo?

Oh and also when I want to start up some backed up games I can load up a bunch of them to one SD supercard then start up the ds and choose whatever I want to play right?  Like theres a loader or whatever.

The only real differences are:

SP2 comes with a programmer.
SP2 has a plastic shell around it.
You can't just yank out SP2 like you can PM2, or you're likely to break the latch on your DS slot. Pull it out a little, then push it back in to make it click out.
Manually signing your posts is dumb.

Firmware versioning: Get a Passcard 3, a SuperKey, or a slot-1 flashkit. Then it doesn't matter which firmware you have.

RedruM7

oh ok, not sure how much use the programmer would be for me, so not much difference if thats the case.

So whats the verdict between a superpass2 and a passme2, I'm probably going to use flashme so I wont need em afterwards anyways.  I can find them for about the same price right now.

But with the supercard you do get a loader or whatever where you can pick whichever game you want to load right, just want to make sure its not some lame process where you can only load one game at a time or something :X

Superpass2, Passkey2 or Passme2 are basicly the same thing.. You can either buy a Passkey2 or Superpass2, it doesn't really matter(Don't bother getting a Passme. It's old). For example I myself have a Passkey2 and I had no problems with it.

With supercard, you can put as many games as you want depending on the size of your SD card.. And you can load whichever you want.. On my SD card, I have 1 DS game and 10 gba games.

using a passme 2 is kind of annoying, because you need to run a certain GBA file (its on the passme site) to write the sram, then reboot the ds, then it'll start it in DS mode... kind of anoying, but if your going to install flasme, you only need to go though that process once.
