Hi,

Anyone know if it's possible to launch a DS game ROM with the SuperCard via the GBA port ???

I know it's possible to launch a DS game via the GBA port but i don't if it will work with the SuperCard ?

Thank you for answers

JK

There are currently no Nintendo DS flash carts, the SuperCard included.

Besides, there aren't even any good dumps of NDS ROMs available at this time (there are dumps of Metroid and Mario 64 floating about, but they are fakes).

The Metroid dump is real:  http://releases.pocketheaven.com/?system=nds&section=release&rel=0001

The DS PassMe can run public domain DS ROMs from the GBA port:  http://www.dspassme.com/

The Metroid dump, as far as I'm aware, is a bad dump (thus, technically a fake).

And PassMe is hardly a Flash Cart.  It's just a circuit board that you must assemble yourself in order to use with the DS.

Hi,

Thank you for your answers... i already checked all this and yes there is a way to launch a DS rom from the GBA game port (with the PassMe)... ok, the DS is a great console so let's buy the games !

PS: Wario Ware is very fun !

Well, DarkFader is the one who dumped it and he's respected in the GBA homebrew scene.  The big emu writers like Flubba seem to think his dump is legit.

Right, PassMe isn't a flashcart, but it allows you to run code on the DS.  Who cares what port is being used?  Surely a true DS flashcart will be the best thing, but for now it's good to see that code can be run without it.

Diablo

Like I said, as far as I'm aware, all DS ROMs that have been dumped are either fakes or bad dumps.  The dump you're talking about may be a good one, but I honestly have not heard any verification in the scene in regards to a valid DS dump.

And I certainly don't care what port is being used to play DS ROMs.  If you had to hardwire something into the DS like a modchip in order to play DS ROMs on it, I wouldn't mind. But I don't think you could call that a flash cart, either. :D

All I was saying is that, at the moment, there is no flash cart that is capable of playing DS ROMs on the DS.  Again, as far as I'm aware, that statement is true and accurate (PassMe, in my opinion, is currently not a true flash cart, but is certainly the first in progress which shows definite promise).

You could theoretically run a DS PDROM from the Supercard with the PassMe.  Theoretically.

It's what i think too...

DarkFader is the first to broke NDS secrets ... a genius

Anyway here is what i read on www.kraln.com

QuoteFinally, there is no way that the PassMe would allow you to play backups, or otherwise assist any RoMz kiddiez.

As i'm not so good in english i don't understand very well the last part of this sentence ?

Diablo

Theoretically, man can fly without any outside force assisting him (if there were no gravity, for example, or if he could flap his arms fast enough). :D

Theories are fine, but it's what you discover by experimentation in the real world and under real world conditions that truly matters.  But, again, theories are fine:  without them, there would be no basis for experimentation to begin with.

And Kraln is saying the PassMe will not allow you to play official (non-homebrew) ROMs or backups on your DS.  So, basically, he's saying there is still no flash cart capable of playing DS ROMs on a Nintendo DS.

Just give it time.  Within two months, I predict there will be about three different flash carts available for the DS.

EDIT:  I sounded a little too much like an @$$hole, IMO.

hmmm ok, thank you for your theory about theory

But I want to try DSLinux development.
www.dslinux.org

Is this possible with a Supercard to store the data?
( I know that I need one of these FlashMe/PassMe/WifiMe)

There are walking around some DS demo's from the E3. It will be nice If we can run it on our Supercard.

zarcon6

no its not posible to use the supercard for nds roms of any sort at the moment. you need a flash card that doesnt have a built in menu system
am the new way to go, I am the way of the future.

I have heard that you can play those rom's if you first load them via the gba mode, then fast switch off and back on the DS. Then the ROM is still loaded in the memory of the supercard. If you then start a NDS-game with FlashMe/PassMe the NDS game works.
