Sorry about not posting on a site ment for this but all them other forums suck nobody helps you and if you ask dumb stuff they subtract your points and say your should of read the rules and stuff.  Okay I just bought a gamecube mod chip and soddered it into my gamecube.  everything seems to work like normal but I cant play my backups. How do I burn a disc? I tried burning supersmash bros with nero 7 but the system just says their is a error and Im suppose to look at the manuel. what do I do? do I need to burn it special? I am just buring the ISO file. I cant figure it out.  :(

Had the same problem when I first got mine. Sign up at the address below and head to the Gamecube section. They helped me out alot.

Make sure the iso image is 1.35 GB. That's all I can think about, nero burns all my gamecube iso's without me doing anything to them.

i use Alcohol 120% to burn my ps2 .ISOs IMHO its the best for burning .ISOs
i always use memorex dvdrs as well ive had trouble with cheaper brands

I'm using Nero Express to burn my GC isos and so far, all of them worked perfectly.. I would suggest you using it, its easy to use.I think the best mini dvds are ritek.. forums.maxconsole.net is a great source , you should check it out..

Also your BURNER makes a HUGE difference.  I was using an LG GS-4120B and only about 25% of my backups were working, and some still gave DRE's..

I bought a pioneer 109, and everything works now.  a Pioneer or an NEC 3520 are very good for 'cube games.. they have a good PI/PO rating.

Use one of those burners, in conjunction with Ritek G04 mini-dvd, or G05 full size (if you have a case mod), and you should be fine.

also, try running fstfix on your iso files, in "full size" mode.. look it up on 'mod that cube' or on the afterdawn thread mentioned earlier.

I am using the max drive pro method of booting. I have a qoob sx chip, but still haven't installed it. my hands aren't steady enough, and I don't know anyone in my area who can solder well. :(

Rocky, I have aViper mod chip in my GameCube. I was using mini disc dvd's but they got to expensive so I bought a replacement lid so I could use normal big DVD's. I have about 14 GameCube games still on mini dvd that I dont use since I use the big DvD's now. Say the word and you can have them all, I dont need em anymore.

I still cant get it to work I am using a xeno mod chip, Will it play big discs without getting a bigger case?  because the mini ones are too expensive to test with I can just open the cas and put it in.  also when I push start to go to the mod chip menu at the start up of the GC the screen just keeps flashing and going up like a VHS tape would do when its rewinding.

DeVS

Not familiar with the Xano GC mod chip. Does it come flashed with a bios or did you have to put one on it? Also you should be ablt to just leave the case off and put in a big DVD to test it, but like I said they make replacement cases for like $25 if thats the route you want to go long term, which I would recommend. I burn with Nero and choose Nero Burning Rom and then point it to my .iso.

I dont know do I need to flash the bios? Yea I was already going to buy a case but now I will wait to see if the backups work.

DeVS

Did alittle research and you dont need to flash a bios, and the bios on there is not upgradable. I would pop the top off and see if you can get a big dvd to boot.

I have already tired that, I cant figure it out, I only have one game Ive been tring to copy witch is smash brothers, so it might be that game, how do I run homebrew so I can try that? do I just burn the game to the DVD or what?

Did you adjust the POT?

I've still yet to do it, but supposedly it does the trick... I get read errors constantly... I just went out and bought mario part 7 this past weekend...

can anyone recomend any good mod chips for the gc? im thinking of getting one but havnt got a clue about them.  also are there and solderless ones available and how easy are they to install generally, i have no experience of soldering at all.

one last thing, once you have the modchip installed its just a case of burning the iso's to the mini dvd's and in theory they should work??  much thanks for any advice you guys can give.  cheers

Viper and Qoob seem to be the best ones right now. I've a Viper and i could play everything perceftly. But they update the chip very rarely (it doesn't really matter anyway cuz it plays all the games without any problem).. On the other hand, Qoob isn't really perfect with all games but they're updating it very often. Final decision is yours.. You should check out maxconsole.net for more info..
