I was playing princess peach and both screens went black. I turned off the DS and turned it back on and there were nothing on my list. The supercard screen came up but there were no games?

I put the CF card into the computer and it is saying there are no files, but 487MB of the card is full? Has anyone experienced this and can I retrieve my save files?

All my animal crossing stuff gone? NOOOOO!!!!

Any help appreciated.

try a recovery program
and don't change ANYTHING on the cf.
don't try to rename something, put something on it or anything else.
that can erase everything.

Cheers,

Getdataback has salvaged all my save games. What a relief.

you were lucky - that was a warning - now make a backup of those important save files. Oh, and are you going to trust that card to work properly in the future?

phew, you were lucky - that was a warning, if you haven't already done so, back up those important save files.  Out of interest, are you going to trust that card again?

I presonally think the card is fine.
format it again, and you'll probably be able to use it just fine.
the supercard is notorious for causing file system errors, especially during save time.

Tobster, point taken. I have backed up the save files of mine and the 2 kids. Talk about panic stations. I have reformatted the card and it is going fine, but I think I will make a weekly back up of all save files a routine process. Too much to lose.

I think I may have over-filled the card without realising.

Cheers.

over-filled the card!!! How can you do this or even what is this?? The save file never gets any bigger  with subsequent saves, and certainly when you use CF cards in other devices, say cameras, MP3 players, I didn't realise that a crash was imminent if the card was nearing capacity.  Sounds like a bit of legend/BS to me .....BUT if this is a real phenomemum, then what is the maximum recommended percentage that you should use??  I would have though that if this really happened that the likes of Sandisk etc would recommend never exceeding, say 90% (or whatever the majic number is) of the capacity.  It must be something else happening or specific to SC.

I have had this once before on my SC SD , i don't know what it was that caused it. I reformatted the card and now it is running fine for almost 1,5 months allready.

But i think it's wise to back up  and format the card at least once a month.
Because the DS writes alot to the SD or CF card during some games, it seems that a kind of Defragmentation is very usefull.

So what i'm doing is just backup and format my SD card at least once a month.!
