hi guys, am a total newbie here. have read through and search through the forum but still have some questions in mind regarding the flashing of ndsl (yes, i have got one on hand! :D) that i hope the guys here can help me out.

1) Quoted from  http://ds.gcdev.com/dsfirmware/, the developer says that "Uninstalling is not recommended as you will lose the fail-safe feature!".
   a) The fail-safe feature is referring to?
   b) Will the startup health screen, adustment of brightness and wi-fi connection be restored as they were previously?

2) The wi-fi ability will be lost aftering flashing. Is that true?
   a) If the above question is true, does it mean that I am not able to play animal crossing or mario kart with other players on the internet server?
   b) Or is it that i can't play with other players nearby me via the wi-fi function be it single-cart or multi-cart games? If it is a single-cart game, will i still be able to download from other players?
   c) How about the pito-chat function?

3) I understand that either one of the card, passme2 or superpass2, pose a problem when ejecting such that it may break the spring latch at the nds slot.
   a) Anyone can tell me which is the one? I also like to know which is a better buy.
   b) Supercard will work with either passme2 or superpass2, is that right?

Perhaps the answers are in some of the threads and that i have not read or search through properly, please do not take offence if that's the case. Thanks in advance to those who help me clear my doubts.

1. You can't restore the original firmware currently (correct me if I'm wrong anyone) This is because no support for it was ever added to flashme, as such it was never added into the no-flashme.

The safety refers to the bricking protection. If you accidentally brick your DS while trying to restore your DS firmware, there will be no way to fix it other then ppflash. (which requites soldering)

Once NDSL support is added, everything will be EXACTLY the same as before.

2. Not true at all. Wifi works perfectly online and off as long as you installed flashme 4 or later (which fixed the problem with firmware overwrites in wifi games)

3. All passthrough devices have a chance of damaging the locking mechanism. If you install flashme, you never have to use these devices again and thus save wear and tear on it.

Like I said, all passthrough devices have this as a possibility.

Supercard will work with any passthrough device as long as your NDS supports it (passme 1/2 on firmwares 1-4, and passme 2 on all firmwares after 4)

You're wrong.

Noflashme lists the DSLite's firmware as V6. Change the firmware you're restoring with the select button.
Manually signing your posts is dumb.

Firmware versioning: Get a Passcard 3, a SuperKey, or a slot-1 flashkit. Then it doesn't matter which firmware you have.

sneef

just because noflashme detects DSLite as v.6 does not mean that you can restore a fully-functioning DSLite firmware with noflashme.

YOU CAN RESTORE YOUR ORIGINAL FW AS IT IS STORED AS A BAKUP IN THE EXTRA FW SPACE

anyway the failsafe feature is to protect u from bricker viruses
man fears time but time fears the pyramid"

omaemad: I know how failsafe works.

Do you have a DS Lite, and you've tested this?  I am just wondering if it really has the FULL DSLite restore, or whether it falsely identifies it as v6, and will restore with something missing.

I do not have a DSLite, but this is as reported by Loopy/olimar, who actually made/makes FlashMe.
