GB Display setting with the Supercard?

I would swear that when you play original Gameboy games with the Supercard that there used to be a setting in the Display Options to use No Border. I know you can switch the color pallet, but wasn't there an option to turn off the border? making it mire full screen.

sneef

yes, the old goomba emulator had that option.  now supercard uses goombacolor alpha 6 (i believe), which doesn't have the border option.  but now you can play gbc-only games like zelda oracle (seasons and ages) and Metal Gear Solid.. woo hoo

moviecouple

Oh... So now I can play Gameboy Color games too now?

moviecouple

Seems that some color games work and some don't. Lots of slowdown too.

I think I prefer to have the No Border option more than the Color games, but that's just me.

sneef

yeah.. compatibility is still not 100%, but it is an ALPHA release, so it's to be expected.  yes, when there are a few sprites on screen at one time.. slooooow.  i was trying super mario bros. DX, and it was ridiculous at some points. heh.

I also noticed that Save State and Load State no longer work either. That is not good. No way to save or load games now.

Why don't you just download your favorite version of GB emulator and compile it with your games before injecting it to the SC ?
I like goomba mono too, and also the no border option rules, so I downloaded the latest version and used that one instead of goomba color.
One thing I like about goomba color though is that you have a preview of the color schemes that you can apply to a gb game.
In fact while you scroll to the differen settings the game snapshot updates and reflects the new settings, which is cool, because when I find the one I like i just resume play and I am ready to go.
While with the original goomba you have to exit the menu and resume the game in order to see the changes.
But anyway the bottom line is to always use the latest emualtion software that you can find.
The ones included with the firmware, are there just for our convenience and are bound to be outdated soon or later, that is until another firmware get a release and things get updated.
But that doesn't mean you have to stick with a particular version.
Just download and use the one you prefer.
There is no irreparable damage done by adding one emulator or another into the firmware.

Do you mean RTS? Normal save is still available.

hehe.  but i wasn't playing for fun. i was just trying it from the technical aspect. sometimes i enjoy getting things to work, more than actually playing the game.  maybe i'm just weird.

berlinka

No it's not weird. Once I was so totally obsessed with getting EVERY console or computer I had owned working on my PC. I wasn't playing anything, just trying to get the best Winuae settings, or the best MAME framerate, the most authentic scanlines on CCS64 or the smoothest scrolling on ZSNES.

It's totally ridiculous, but so much fun.

sneef

*phew* *wipes forehead*  I'm glad I'm not the only one.. hehe.

There is at least three of us in fact.....
Although this days I am spanding quite more time playing with my DS :)

That is what I ended up doing... using Goomba 1.8. Works fine. Just easier the other way.
