I hope someone will take pity on me and help! I've been using an SD Supercard on my NDS for a while now and I've finally taken the plunge and bought a Super Pass 2.  I'm confused... there are some many postings on the internet with various cards I can't work out how to use it.  Can someone please give me a step by step idiots guide to getting it up and running?  I don't want to break my DS!!!

Thanks

The procedure is different depending on what version DS firmware you have.  Help us help you by checking your version  . . .

Lucky you, this should be easy.  Your version DS only needs "passme".  Superpass2 should come pre-configured as "passme" by default (mine was).

Update supercard firmware . . .
1) remove superpass2 from DS
2) format SD as FAT (not FAT32)
3) copy latest supercard firmware bin file (v1.61) to SD
http://www.scdev.org/index.php?cat=downloads&type=sd
4) put SD into supercard, put supercard into DS, power on DS
5) select DS option "Start GBA game" to start supercard in GBA mode
6) you should now see supercard menu, yes?
7) select and run supercard firmware bin file

Test supercard+superpass2 in DS mode . . .
1) put superpass2 switch in up position
http://www.supercard.cn/superpass2/images_en/image008.jpg
2) insert superpass2 (and game) into DS, then power on DS
3) you should now see the dual screen supercard logo menu, yes?

Patch "clean dump" game roms . . .
1) verify game roms with Nintenren software
2) patch game roms with latest supercard patcher software (v2.52)
http://www.scdev.org/index.php?cat=downloads&type=sd
3) use this list for best patcher software options
http://www.dualscene.net/lists/index.php?listname=Supercard
4) copy patched *.dsq and *.sav files to SD
5) run patched files in DS mode

Let us know at what point you run into problems, if any.  Good luck.

I can't thank you enough, it works perfectly!  Just a coupe quick question for you though, do I sv games on the SD card in the same way as GBA mode and what is Flashme, do I need to concern myself with it??

bitblt

Great! You should be able to save using "normal" in-game save.  FlashMe is an upgrade for the DS firmware, and will allow you to use your supercard without the need for superpass2.  Flashing your DS is not required but is recommended.

dRoSe

Sorry to ask but how do I flash my DS?

Using SCDev.org forums search on keyword "how-to" I found this tutorial . . .

How-To: FlashMe using PassMe/SuperPass+

I hope this helps.

Thanks, I was just about to post a reply to myself saying I'd found this tutorial, I'll work my way through it later.

Just one final thing, I promise, I'm having problems saving.  Usually I press Left + Right + Select + A in GBA mode, this brings up the "SC Normal save" menu.  When I reload the game the last save mode is loaded.  I can't get this to work in NDS, mode, any ideas?  Am I doing something wrong?

bitblt

For DS games you should be able to use the "normal" in-game save, no Left + Right + Select + A tricks.  Using the supercard patcher software make sure you right click on the roms (in the list) and select save to SD option.

3) use this list for best patcher software options

Have fun, and buy games you play often.  Throw Nintendo a bone.

Don't worry, I've always been a big Nintendo fan and I'm using it mainly for SCUMM DS and to see where best to invest my cash!

If you are using the SD version of ScummVMDS you can not save directly to the SD card, even with the latest version (0.5 I think).  You'll have to create a dummy save file, and then use the QPC save method.  That is, save within the game, then quickly turn the DS off then on, go to the saver menu, and save your save.
