I think it would be better if you try quality by yourself.
MoonShell supports lots of various formats (you need some plugins to open them all):
Video: dpg
Audio: mp3, xm, midi, mod, spc, wav, ogg, etc.
Picture: bmp, png, gif, jpg, psd, png
Other: nds, txt, ini
They're not all, I'm sure I forgot about some (mostly audio).

DPG and MP3 are the only ones built-in to the Moonshell binary, and I think the MP3 there is only for playing the startup jingle.

When you set up Moonshell, don't just copy the file. Run the setup.exe and point it at your flash card. Have all the checkboxes checked, except "The NDS file of the normal is copied." and "When existing, the backup is created." and click the OK button.
Manually signing your posts is dumb.

Firmware versioning: Get a Passcard 3, a SuperKey, or a slot-1 flashkit. Then it doesn't matter which firmware you have.

Mp3 plugin is in a separated plugin file. Plugins for dpg and text are built-in.
