Use supercard with no Superpass?

I'm an idiot, and mail-ordered a supercard but realized I needed to order the Superpass seperately.  So I have sitting here a supercard and a lousy CF reader/writer that doesn't work, I'll have to go buy another one of those.

My question is, is it possible to play games without the superpass?  Probably not, but just wondering.

Another question, are there any retail outlets that carry Supercard or is it all strictly mail-order?  Wish I could go someplace and buy one here in victoria brisitsh columbia than wait for mail order again.

you can play gba games while your waiting for your superpass

You should be able to test your supercard/CF with some GBA games in GBA mode.  No, you can't run DS code/games without using a pass-through device (superpass) or installing FlashMe. Well, there is the WiFiMe method.

It's possible to install FlashMe without a pass through device by using the WiFiMe method.  To get WiFiMe working you will need a wireless PCI card with the RT2500 or RT2560 chip set (i bought mine local for ~$25).  This method is somewhat challenging but WiFiMe is a great tool to have working anyway.

When I did that version check thing my screen turned greysish blue i think, which was FW2?  Which means i can use PAssme1 or Passme2?

I don't think I'm really going to consider WiFiMe because I would have to get a wifi card + the pci card.

Man, this card reader they sent me is a real peice of junk.  It's called "Handy" card reader/writer and there is a sticker on here for some romman.net.

When I plug in the card reader without the card it seems to install ok.  If the CF card is allready in it, it does not install correctly.  WHen I plug the card in and select format, it doesn't do anything.  Usually after a couple of minutes my G: drive reomvable device on My Computer just disappears.

I went to wal-mart to look for another CF reader/writer.  They had like 10 different adapters but none of them were CF + writable.  blah

BTW thanks for the responses guys!  It's annoying to hear the woes of a newb, i'm sure.

If it's firmware 2 just get a normal superpass. It is much easier to use(and u dont have to program it) than to get a superpass 2. And when u do get ur superpass , definately flash your ds right when you get it, so u dont have to have the superpass in the ds card slot and you save more battery life.

"If you have FW1,2, or 3, you can use PassMe1. If you have FW4 or 5, you need PassMe2."

Lucky you, your DS firmware check indicates you only need a passme or superpass. You might want to get a superpass2 anyway just in case you ever want to flash a 2 series DS (ie. DSlite).  Superpass2 comes pre-configured as "passme" by default, so you won't need to program it.

No, all you would need is one PCI wireless card with the RT2560 chipset.  This would allow you to send hombrew to your DS wirelessly, and allow you to install FlashMe without having to wait for a new superpass2.  Once flashme is installed you don't need a "passme" device anymore.  (you could be up and running today)

I have no problem listening to the woes of a newb.  I was once a DS+supercard newb too.

This CF reader/writer is really bumming me out.  I went to the website but it was all in chinese.  I looked around town for some more CF writers but the cheapest I could find was 40 bucks, which seems steep.  I tried to format the drive in DOS but I get this "error in IOCTL" message.

I'm just wondering if I want to spend 90 bucks for a wireless card + another CF writer.  Might as well have gotten the M3 to start with.

I'm sorry to hear about your flash card reader (should be less than $20) and it should just plug-n-play and come up as a new drive.  What version of Windows are you running?  You would still need a flash card reader for M3+SD, as well as "passme" or WiFiMe.  Good luck.

If you want a cheap CF writer just buy one off Ebay, you should be able to get one delivered for less than $5.

Alternatively do you have a digital camera? If you have a camera that uses CF you can just use that to transfer files, that's all I've been doing in preperation for my Supercard.

lu_pp

you can go to ebay to find cheap CF reader.
And if your NDS is not flashed, you can not use SC card playing NDS game

Well I thought I'd give an update.

I called around and asked about wifi cards.  I found a place with a card that was on the list: http://ralink.rapla.net/, a D-Link DWL-G510.  On the page it says rev C1*, which made me nervous but i got it anyways.

The wifime drivers won't install.  I take it back, and I actually had the wrong card in the box, I had a D-Link DWL-g520, not a DWL-g510.  lol.  I take the proper card home, and try it.  Drivers still don't work.

Soo, there's another place in town with a Foxconn card that is on the list, I will try them tomorrow after taking this one back.

Anyways thanks for all the feedback guys, I appreciate it.
