Supercard CF Save/RealTime Save Patching Wackiness...?

Okay, this is driving me nuts recently...

Has anyone ever patched a homebrew ROM with the SC software's SRAM-Saver and/or Real Time Save options and had them not come up at all when you hit the key-combo in-game?

I've been building a bunch of different emulator+rom compilations (SMSAdvance/PocketNES/GoomBA(Paletted/Color)/etc), and I'll set them all to be patched with all of the standard options in the Supercard patching software (Saver, Real Time Save, Reset), and when trying them out on my original GBA+SC CF, not all of them will let me hit L+R+Select+B/A/etc...

...and of the ones that don't do anything, about half of those -do- let me hit L+R+Select+Start to Reset to the SC boot menu...the other half do nothing.

It seems that the only difference between ones that work and don't work is size...I'm making small GBA roms, btw...like <8mb, so it's not that I'm making 32mb ones that don't patch correctly because they don't fit.  My actual commercial GBA 'backups' all patch fine so far though. :P

(I'm using an original Jappo GBA, Supercard CF (v2) updated to 1.61, and tried both patching software 2.52CF and 2.53CF with the same 'random' results)

So anyway, has anyone ever ran into something like this, and if so, is there some sort of fix? :I

(Oh, also, when I got my SC several days ago, it was using 1.41-or-42 firmware, so I updated to 1.61...but it took about 20 tries before it'd 'take' and not give me a 'Flash Write Fail - Turn Off GBA And Upgrade Again'-ish message, which freaked me out at first... ANYWAY, now that it seems to have updated okay (everything seems to work normally), can someone using 1.61 confirm whether or not the capital 'R' in the SC's font is missing some pixels in the right 'leg' of the letter? :P I just want to see if that's how it is for everyone, or if my SC actually isn't updated totally correctly :) (The self test checks out Ok for everything, though.))

...holy rambling.

Thanks for any help in advance :P

The supercard patcher is for commercial games only not homebrew.

It won't work with homebrew.

The only way to save with Homebrew on supercard is to use the QPC method.

...I'd accept that, except I just made 500mb+ of 4-12mb PocketNES, GoomBA and GoomBA Color compilations that -all- let me Reset to the SC menu, save/load Real Time saves, and save the SRAM, which would auto-load later on after being turned off for hours...

([Edit] - As an example of a non-commercial homebrew rom that you can patch with Real Time + SRAM saving just fine, you can try the Another World/Out Of This World port from http://www.foxysofts.com/index.php?l=content/gba/anworld.inc and copy that over.  The L+R+Select+A/B combos work after the first audio library splash screen fades.)
