Online with ps2?

how does online work for ps2? is it like xbox where yo ucreate an account and pay monthly? or is it just plug and play (after setup etc, which i doubt it is) i know FFXI is monthly fees, but are all the ps2 online games like that?

Most of them are plug and play with no pay. There is no XboX Live type serice for PS2 so all the connecting and server issues are handled through the game itself.
