Quote from: "jpxdude"Silly question...

Do monster.sou files need to be compressed in anyway to work?  Also, do the files need to be zipped in scummdata.zip, and built, or can the respective game be run straight off the SD/CF card?

Thanks for any help :)

J
Compressed SOU (MP3, OGG or FLAC) will not work. Files do not need to be built at all.

Quote from: "Chris9620"Anyone fancy giving me a step-by-step on how to get this working on my Supercard SD? I only get a blank screen, and the official website isn't all that helpful. help on how to get my games going would be great too (I've got cd's of all the classic point and clickies, but don't really know how to get them onto ScummvmDS - for example, how do I make a zip file that uses 'no compression'? I can't find that feature anywhere!)

Thanks!

I also get two white screens. What do I have to do to run? I'm trying to get ScummVM-a.nds running.

Well it works very well for me, here's what I did:

Download scummvmds application.
When you extract the archive, you get several files, some with .nds extention and some with .ds.gba extention.
I found out that the nds version didn't work for me, therfore I just renamed the .ds.gba to .nds and put it on my SCsd.
Don't patch it and don't create any sav file, you don't need them.
Next you need to create several folders with the games you want to play.
For example I have a folder on my SC called SCUMMVM.
Inside I have the application(the .gba renamed to .nds) and some more folders with games e.g. Indy3, Monkey2, Dott)
Now in these games folder you need to put certain files.
Nobody has mentioned it, but you don't really need each and every file that came with the original game.
In fact scummvm is an intermpreter, and all you need for it to run is the game data, not the exacutable itself.
If you check the scummvm page(the PC version) there is a page in the documentation section which tells you exactly what file do you need in order to play each game.
For example in order to play Monkey Island 2, you need the files Monkey2.000 and Monkey2.001, that' all !
So I put those files in the monkey2 folder(uncompressed, unpatched) and upon starting ScummWMDS I click on ADD game and choose the folder Monkey2 and the name of the game will be listed.
Once you choose it, it would be good to set a path for saving( you can do it later as well by choosing EDIT game), it;s a good idea to set it to the folder where the game itself is stored.
Once the game is added, just highlite it and hit start.
Here is the link to the scummWM page with all the information you need regarding the files : http://www.scummvm.org/documentation.php?view=datafiles
Remember that scummWMDS does not support nearly as much games, to find out which ones are supported and which version to use (scummWMDS-a or b) chech the home page.

Yup, there is no need to compress anything anymore.

Thanks armando, I can now play all my favourite games on the Bus!!! Now its just a case of getting a SD card big enough to fit them all!!!

Cheers for the help.

MajkiMajk

Get a 1GB SD card. It's completly fun to play the CD versions of Indiana Jones And The Fate of Atlantis or Sam&Max Hit The Road. I't just great to hear dr. Jones or Sam and Max talking. Or Simon... Oohhh common!!  :D

Can anyone tell me how to make this work with the Mac version of "Day of the Tentacle"?

Thanks,
   Gina

Absolutely brilliant work AgentQ!

I'm a supercard SD user and have been waiting patiently for this release - it was WELL worth the wait and thank you for all your hard work.

I haven't a single problem with anything with it! Woohoo!

By the way in case you didn't notice there has recently been an update to version .61
Now the touch screen routines are much improved, and this is a BIG plus for me, as I was kind of frustrated before because of poor implementation.
There are other small changes too, like the ability to use MP3 files for audio data, and it's defenetly worth the upgrade.
But talking from personal experience, the touch screen is just brillian now, it works actually better then I had expected or hoped for, I would say just like any commercial DS adventure game, and this is amazing, considering that those games were programmed with a keyboard and mouse in mind.
Cheers !

It will crash if you are trying  to use large MP3 files.

the dos version uses SIMON2.VOC and the windows one SIMON2.WAV - im not using mp3 files. the new 0.61 version doesn't work either.
i have the "new" simon2 cd with two versions (dos and win) of the game on one cd. maybe the game-release itself incompatible with scumm-ds? scummvm for windows works fine with the simons.

I didn't try this specific title, but I had an hard time to get the CD music working with the secret of monkey Island.
But it was all my foult, because the site explains in detail what kind of wav file is required in order to make it work with scummvmds and also how to create it in detail.
Since my files were in mp3 format(that was before the update) I had to burn a CD with the MP3 files and then rip it again in the correct wav file format with the suggested ripping program and settings and it did work flowlessy.
So my advise is to look up those information and use the correct settings when ripping the audio tracks.
I guarantee it's gonna work.

SIMON2.VOC and SIMON2.WAV are the speech files, not cd-audio. i also read the scummvm website very carefully.

Maybe you should carefully read the scummvmDS site as well, because the DS version in some cases is not compatible with the same kind of files.
