I do not understand anything and nothing works.

All I'm trying to do is use GBA games on the Supercard, using a white DS (later firmware).

I'm using the latest software that I downloaded here.

I'm patching everything as per instructions.

The ROMs are not bad ROMs, otherwise I would not have been able to patch them with translations (this is BEFORE I patched them on the Supercard software, in case anyone offers that as a tip).

I cut down files over 32 megs free of extraneous data.

NOTHING, NOTHING, NOTHING works. EVERYTHING gives me a white screen, and in some sparkling cases, a white screen and crackling.

I'm completely clueless and I did not want this to be so much work. I'm not a massive software pirate, I buy all my games and this was simply so we could test a translation I'm doing. What do I do now? I think I've just wasted $50.

Update: The Supercard was manufactured last month, and is a regular blue one.

I reformatted my SD card using the info on this site (which was for CF cards, but I'm grasping at straws here).

It still doesn't work.

I tried it on a first wave GBA SP.

It still doesn't work and I'm now really upset.

Hmm...have you downloaded the latest firmware update for your card and applied it (it doesn't need to go through the patcher) just copy to the SD and run it...

You ALWAYS need to patch the clean GBA roms with the Supercard patching software, otherwise the roms don't work

have you tryed to get them working before you used your "translation" patching software? the problem maybe there

...if you're using v2.541 of the patching software, try turrning off Compress under the Options tab before you add a rom (or else double-click the added rom then toggle Compress off there), and -then-press [Out]

OK, deep breath.  When you say nothing works, do you mean that when you turn the DS on you get a white screen?  Or do you mean that when you run a GBA rom from the Supercard menu you get a white screen?

Make sure you update the firmware on your SC with the latest version, 1.62.

Make sure you patch your roms with the latest version of the SC software, 2.541.

Make sure that your SD card is formatted with FAT, not FAT32.  How big of an SD card do you have?  If it's bigger than 2gb you will need to format from a DOS command prompt.  If you have another SD card to test with, that would be good.

Try patching your roms without doing the translations first.

Please let us know how it goes.

Having just received my first SC and then spending many hours getting it to work in a well used GBA-SP, I think I know what the problem may be.

The manufacturing quality of the SC leads a lot to be desired and it is the cart design that was causing problems with my GBA.  Pushed all the way in, the cart design seems to cause some of the contacts at the GBA interface to disengage.  This is easily identified by the lack of the "Nintendo" label during power-up followed by the white screen of death!

I solved the problem by pulling the cart about 1/2mm from its fully located position prior to power-up, after first sanding down the plastic lip in front of the PCB contacts (I compared it with a standard cart and noticed a significant difference).  However, this method is somewhat flakey and its success varies from one GBA to the next.

It's a shame really as the SC electronics are OK, but the cheap cart is the weak link here.

BTW, when the guys suggest upgrading to the latest firmware, they seem to be forgetting that you need to see the menu on the GBA in order to do that!  Your problem, like mine was, is seeing that menu in the first place!
