Find out DS firmware

Hello, this may be posted before, but I failed to find it.

Is there a way to find a DS firmware before opening it (open the box anyway)? Like code bar or some indication?

I want to buy a regular Ds, v5, to be able to change the screen brightess, I'd like a Lite, but here in MExico, the price is gonna skyrocket. It's easier to find a regular DS, then there is the firmware problem.

It's easy to check SC's firmware version, of course.

It tells you the firmware version on the manual. If you are trying to find out before you buy, just ask to see the documentation.

It's written on the corner of the front cover.

I do believe, however, that you're going to be opening a fair few boxes before you will find one that has old firmware on it.

I know units without a numerical suffix in the manual is V3 and older. Ones with suffixes are newer.

what part of the manual? ive check the instruction manual of my Ds and theres no firmware indicated on it..

i have a silver nds and it has a V2 firmware .. so i cant mod it to have backlight level settings..

yours won't have the firmware indication, as it is older than v3.

Mines the new blue DS . there is no info on firmware on the cover, maybe cos im in aus?

I am in Australia too. My manual reads on the top right corner 'NTR-AUS.' ones with newer firmware might read something like 'NTR-AUS-1' or 'NTR-AUS-2.'
