I just got my M3 mini SD and I am totaly lost. Here is what I need help with

1. do I have to convert the games first to play them? or do I just stick a .gba or .nds file on the card?

2. How do I get skins working?

3. How do the games save without save files?  Do i have to create a folder for them to save

mikesinclair

When you put the roms through the patcher it makes game save folders.  Or you can make your own.  For nds folder is called NDSSAVE for gba folder is called GAMESAVE

rocky

what is the button  comonation you use to get to a menu or something like the supercard has

mikesinclair

For gba you can just put the .gba file on and play, but you will need a save file I think if you want to beable to save

mikesinclair

I think L R A B  .  I'll go get my M3 and see. *edit  Yup that is correct

You can save, load, restart, or goto main menu, that way.

rocky

okay thanks but how do I skin the menu?  I hate this thing its so confusing why did the m3 website say their is no conversion needed to save games?

mikesinclair

Because you can just put the rom right onto the cart, and a save file, and name it what ever the rom is.  Maybe you can save with just putting the rom file on.  I haven't tried it.

"Put this SKIN output file into the "BACKING" directory under the root directory of CF/SD card"

put what skin output file into the backing directory?

rocky

Okay what am I doing wrong? I open the skin generator and click just go and it creates BACKNDS.000 and I put that in the BACKING folder on the root directory of my card and it doesnt change and if I try using someones elses skin I download online it does the same thing

rocky

never mind I didnt know you had to choose the skin in the menu

sneef

yeah.. I like my m3, but their website has a lot of misleading information about how "transparent" the saving is.  Saving is so much better on supercard.  I prefer being able to choose whether I want to back up SRAM to my SD card, rather than the card automatically doing it when i reboot.

And in DS mode, at least the supercard is completely transparent regarding saves.

rocky

is the moonshell that is embeded skinable?  What can M3 do that the supercard cant do not including gba and ds games.  Can you run movies on it without converting?

sneef

no, you have to convert either crystal engine, or dpg (moonshell) to watch movies.

rocky

so is the moonshell that is embeded skinable?

Edit nevermind I figured out how to do that.  M3 is so confusing I dont think i will ever use it again
