SC Mini SD - Firmware 1.62 issue?

I just got my supercard and was having problems with the Supercard corrupting the file system on the mini sd card when it got beyond 300mb full. I had updated the firmware to 1.62 as soon as I got it.

At first I suspected the media so I brought another more 'branded card' Kingston in my case, and it did the same thing. I even changed out my card reader to find the same problem.

Today I downgraded the firmware on the supercard to 1.61 and the problem has gone away. I can now use either of the 1 gig mini sd cards to capacity.

If it is the firmware to blame I would be suprised that it hasn't been reported on the forum before, so perhaps it was a bad update of the firmware but then I would be amazed if any of the files on the sd card would have shown up at any level of capacity.

Anyone else had this? Not wanting to move back to 1.62 if there is an issue the that firmware!

is it safe to role back the firmware ?

Chiliblue

well my supercard is working....so I guess so I shouldn't see why it would cause an issue unless you put on a incompatible firmware

I have this same problem. I have a 2gb Sandisk MiniSD and it only lets me use about ~970mb and then it will say "cannot copy file the parameter is inncorrect" if i try and copy any more than that.

I will try and downgrade to 1.61, but i am not sure how to do that. Do i just install the 1.61 firmware file? or do i do something else?

Chiliblue

Yes same as upgrading firmware.

I formatted my card and stuck the firmware file on, it found it reported the version and the currently installed version then downgraded.

However there is also one other possiblity, in the process of this I replaced my card reader. Another user with the same problem solved it with a new card reader...and has it working fine in 1.62.

Obviously given that I have it working with 1.61 and my new card reader I don't feel inspired to move back up to 1.62. But if you find the same problem in 1.61 then it is probably the card reader you are using to transfer the files over.

Well if you have checked the sd is working fine.

I irony is that even with the older reader I could copy and move data and have it all readable with the PC, and it was only when I inserted the card in the supercard that it corrupted. Perhpas the PC ismore tolerant of whatever the issue is.

Yup, mine was 100% the card reader's fault. I thought 3 miniSD cards were screwed, and this was even before they went anywhere near the supercard. Using 1.62 no problems now.

I entered the serial number on the back of the reader into google, and found a small handful of forum threads from people with the exact same problem. Seems my particular cheap-o card reader has issues with large SD cards. It is about 3 years old though.
