ok, I just got a Supercard SD and Superpass 2 DS for my daughter's NDS and am getting nowhere fast...

first instruction was to load the UPGRADE.scu file to the SD card's root, pop it in the SuperCard and boot the NDS to confirm the upgrade to the SuperCard...

Did this, after having FAT formatted my SD card within windows, but when I switch on the NDS, all I see is the normal menu saying "No DS Card inserted" and No GBA Game Pack inserted.

What could I have done wrong?  :x

Did you format your card properly in FAT?
S Phat + Supercard CF + Kingston 1GB
DS Phat + Supercard MiniSD + Patriot 1GB
DS Lite Black + Supercard SD + Kingston 1GB
DS Lite White + Supercard SD + Patriot 1GB
PSP + FW 3.02 EO-B + 1GB Sandisk
PSP + FW 3.02 EO-C + 4GB Sandisk

As far as I can tell, yes... I followed the sticky from this forum and it all went without a hitch.

Anyone??? Before this goes back to the retailer, or gets stuck on eBay  :?

Without upgrading the Supercard firmware you should still be able to get to the GBA menu.  Make sure you format your SD as FAT not FAT32.  If that doesn't work try wedging a little bit of folded paper in the SD slot to apply slight pressure on the SD.  Also, try a different SD.

Thanks for the reply bitblt

OK, I've now tried a 1Mb Viking SD and a 512k Kingston.. both were formatted as FAT, both sit tightly in the DS slot, but still neither of them show the GBA menu..

Aarghh!!!

Its not about them sitting tightly in the slot, it's about some Supercards not making proper contact with the SD media.  Try something like this . . .

I got the gist regarding contacts, cheers.

tried that on both SD's. still no joy - I'm either very stupid or very unlucky...!!

Is there anything I need to change on the DS to get the GBA menu to appear? (remember, this is my daughter's DS, I only bought it! - I work in IT, so I don't consider myself a technophobe!!)

bitblt

All you should have to do is remove the superpass2 and start the DS in GBA mode from the standard DS option screen.  That must work before you can proceed further.

solfer

Is there a difference between GBA mode and Auto mode? The options I get are Auto mode or Manual mode..

bitblt

That's a different option.  When you first start your DS (after the warning) you should see "Start GBA game" or "DS Option Pak inserted" at the bottom of the screen.  What do you see?  Also, do you have an old GBA system to test with?

solfer

bitblt - thanks for sticking with me on this! U must be thinking you're dealing with an imbecile!!

When I start the DS with the SuperCard & SD, I get exactly the same as if I start it with nothing in either the GBA or the DS slot.. i.e. "There is no DS card inserted" and "There is no Game Pak" inserted".

Sorry, I missed your last question - yes I do have an old GBA... I'll give this a try now

Not at all.  I think you may have gotten a bad Supercard. :( Can you return it?

solfer

Just tried it in the GBA - I get no response from that either - just the 'Gameboy' screen as if nothing were in the slot..

I've emailed the retailer, so hope to get a response tomorrow (I'm in the UK).

Thanks for your help with this - much appreciated!

solfer

It was a bad card after all. Replaced and and up & running now.

Thanks for the help here :)
